Obama raises $10 million after Palin speech-GOP raises over $1 million since speech
Edited on Fri Sep-05-08 08:08 AM by spanone
bwahahahahaaa

ST. PAUL, Minnesota - Barack Obama's presidential campaign said it raised $10 million Thursday following the Republican National Convention speech by rival John McCain's running mate, Sarah Palin.

Obama spokesman Bill Burton said Palin's address, heavily laced with digs at Obama, prompted an outpouring of donations from more than 130,000 donors.

"We're up over the previous record and the number is still climbing the more Palin's attacks are covered on cable and network news," Obama spokesman Bill Burton said.

5. That number ($10,000,000) is now incorrect...
It's going to be MUCH HIGHER. I donated $100 after McLame's speech ended... i wanted to save my cash for last night. I have a feeling that many others did too... and the $10,000,000 number was 24 hours after the Palin speech - but before McCain even spoke.

I'd say Obama has probably raked in about $15,000,000 by now.

Screw the damn republicans.. they've tried to buy this country for years.. so i'll play that game - i'm buying it back one dollar at a time to Obama. :)

6. Obama has constructed the perfect counter-weight
The GOP has said for years that money equals speech. They've used this logic to essentially legalize bribery by the big corporations through the lobbying arm. One response is to OPPOSE the logic: no! money does not equal speech!

The other response, the Obama jujitsu response, is to say OK, then. That's the game? Let's play it. So, the campaign constructs a fund-raising engine that allows money to equal speech for everybody. Where previous attacks of this nature just caused people to fume silently, they now have an outlet to fume. With their checkbooks. It's pretty brilliant.

10. I was always against McCain-Feingold
I don't think I want government financing of campaigns. That could mean government control. I like how we've put Obama where he is.

7. I think Tommy Vietor's response was better.
"Sarah Palin should give a speech every day," he said.
