WHY SARAH PALIN WORRIES ME:
(Re-Posting as an OP as requested)

Remember 2000? No one was worried about dumb-ass Bushy 2.. no way he could get elected. We were half right.. he didn't get elected, but his cronies did steal the damn election. Fuck.. we should have been concerned.

And then in 2004 - No reason to be worried, because there was no way that anyone would vote for that idiot AGAIN, RIGHT? Ummm.. Fuck Fuck Fuck. Yup.. should have been worried then too.

So, now it's 2008... and we have the most dynamic candidate in recent history on the top of our ticket.. we're running against an incumbant party that has run this country into the ground, and the main guy we're running against looks like a scarecrow, and he picked a female VP who has more scandals then months of experience. No reason to be worried, right?

Wrong. This country has a very strong track record of being swayed by the stupidest and most un-informed of reasons. "Ohh.. i'll vote for the white guy".. "Ohh.. i'm voting for the guy who put a woman on the ticket", and many MANY won't go farther then that.

So, THAT is why i'm worried. The average IQ in this country seems to go down as much as gas prices go up each year.

Rec if you agree.. and post below on why you don't!

1. Absolutely right!
In politics, complacency equals death. Just because it seems like we can't possibly not beat a McCain/Palin ticket, and that their campaign appears to be imploding, that doesn't mean that we should let our guard down and not work as hard to get the Obama/Biden ticket elected. The last two elections have shown us what underestimating our competition can do.

I'm very glad to K&R this one. Thanks for starting a new thread on this! :hi:

2. Said it the other day, she is much morre dangerous than a "real" pick
There is no way to contrast something that is not there, and they arent going to come to the fight. less than 1500 hours all she has to do is be a shield.

3. I find her frightening.... because many don't know and don't CARE about anything else..
except for the fact that she's "Pro-Life, Pro-Gun, and Pro-Jesus".

She can be proven to have been totally involved in "troopergate" - but it won't matter.. it will be justified as "What would you have done if you could try and fire someone who was mean to your family".. it will be justified. Just like her daughter being pregnant was justified, even though if it would have been a Dem, it would have been horrible.

The people who are excited & thrilled to vote for her DO NOT CARE about any other issue. They don't care about the potential problems posed by her being president, because they can only see to the edge of their bible.

The big question this time around is how many people have learned from the past 8 years, and how many have gotten dumber?

5. I don't understand "worry".
I don't "worry" about Palin. I admit the possibility she might help his ticket. But my own view of the election is that we have so much going for us in terms of the fundamentals and strategy, that she is basically a hail mary pass or on-sides kick.

Yes, it might work and win the game for McCain. But probability suggests that that outcome is unlikely.

And I do not waste time "worrying" about unlikely things. Instead, plan for multiple eventualities, and cover your bases. That's all you can do.

7. Worrying until it's official
Your points are very well made.

After the disappointments of the last eight years, I think it is foolish not to worry. Palin already has a fanatical following in her camp based on what I've seen and heard from the Repukes.

That amazes me because the facts clearly show that she is not qualified to be VP. However, as stated above, for the fanaticals, it is not about qualifications. It is not about facts. It is only about the prolife movement. They don't give a damn about anything else.

I am tired of religious bullies running this country.

8. I said this yesterday.
And linked to it a couple times. I guess not many wanted to hear it. And still don't.

Maybe you will, though. Bageant is a hell of a writer and observer.

11. I'm a faithful contributor. But we have to use all the tools,
including our understanding of the GOP and our strong recollection of history.

ALL the tools.

10. I am not worried. This is not 2000, 2004 and Bushie 2 had a good economy from Clinton
so America was willing to take a chance with Bushie 2 than to have Al Gore in hteir living rooms. Face it, Al Gore 2000 was stiff, wooden and not telegenic whereas Bushie 2 seemed to connect with Middle America. In 2004 we let Kerry be swiftboated as a patrician out of touch and his Vietnam record was soiled by lies from the Rove machine. We (Democratic Party) did not rally around our candidate and trusted that America would see through the smear campaign. Kerry was seen as weak because he wuld not attack Bushie and we were one year into the Iraq War. Now, 2008 we know that the venomous and snakelike Bush machine did to this country. No matter how good she looks now Sarah Palin will turn out to be a lightweight, a beautiful guava full of worms. So, let Obama and Biden take care of the Fluff Ticket and continue to work harder for our team. We have the issues and America is primed for a change. This is 1992 all over and guess who won 1992?

12. I'm a little worried. Palin is a perfect reflection of everything that is wrong in America
And the fact that so many will ignore the facts and vote for McPalin is worrying.

13. It's hard to worry about something SO silly.
Right now I can't - it's the most ridiculous ticket I've ever seen. I will say that I'm glad the National Enquirer is digging up dirt - I believe that low-information voters are the ones who read that type of thing.

Then again, I do realize how dumb the repuke voters are....time will tell if I should worry.
