"If the good governor is unwilling or unable to go toe to toe with the Larry Kings and Barbara Walters' of the world, how on earth will she be able to sit across the table from Putin or Ahmedinijad?"

Use Larry King specifically because he is generally regarded as the "softest" interviewer on cable TV.

Use Barbara Walters specifically because she always portrays her subjects in the best possible light.

It increases the wimpiness factor. Like saying that a child is afraid of Barney the Dinosaur.

1. Surrogates need to be saying this LONG before Oct. 2.
It's obvious Palin doesn't know shit and CAN'T think on her feet to answer questions. The GOP will do their best to prep her over the next few weeks, hoping she will at least remember enough to debate.

Or else we just ignore her. That would be OK too.

4. if the surrogates have gotten this out there heavily enough, Biden can say this
without appearing to be sexist, condescending, elite or any of the other things the R's try to pin on him. It will already be a talking point .

6. This should be shouted from the rooftops, starting now

The fence sitters should be made aware of the fact that Palin is hiding from questions! Then, if she continues to hide, she's screwed in the debates, as per the OP.

On the other hand, if the McCain camp caves in and puts her out there to answer questions without a script, she'll hang herself.

Either way, we win.

Only problem... how do we get the MSM to get the word out that Palin is being sheltered?

Do you think her avoidance of the media will be perceived as a snub and inspire the press to complain about how she is running from them?

Sure, the McCain people will say she doesn't trust the media after all the 'sexist' attacks, but that brings it back to the whole "If you can't take this, how will you handle the bad guys?" response.

I don't see this 'absentee VP' scheme working out for them... as long as the pressure is kept on between now and the debates.

9. No, he shouldn't ...
He needs to play it pretty much completely straight, and have the difference in knowledge play itself out. Be appropriately gentlemanly toward her, and statesmanlike.

The media is waiting like RABID DOGS to jump on Biden for being too tough on her - his best play is to play it straight, let the media proclaim her a victor for standing tall next to him and letting the REASONABLE observers make their decision based on the gap in knowledge, and my guess is, that if Biden plays it straight, be turned off by her course attitude.
