GW Bush, aka Valdemort, has been "disappeared" by the GOP
Among the main speakers at the GOP convention, Bush's name -- like Valdemort's -- was only mentioned once, and that was by, as Tom Ridge said today, John Bush aka John McCain aka John McSame.

Can anyone remember when the GOP couldn't invoke the name of a sitting Republican president enough. They repeated "Reagan" as if it were some bizarre mantra.

Now, none of them can bring themselves to even mention the name of he-who-shall-not-be-named.

Some legacy, Dubya. Even your party knows you're poison.

Worse still, they never mentioned Dick Cheney at all.

1. except for, you know, when he appeared via satellite... ;-)
But they still only gave him about nine minutes, when every other speaker had about half an hour (and Cheney didn't speak at all--even through a medium channeling him from the depths of Hell), so your larger point is correct: they don't want any viewers to remember that they're the party of Bush-Cheney.

But Americans remember.

2. You're right
but they really had no choice but to let him speak. He is the de-facto head of the party. But to have a nine-minute satellite appearance and then be mentioned only once by any of the main speakers is pretty much a slap in the face -- actually, worse than a slap in the face.

I mean Rudy 9iu11iani, nutcase that he is, got to speak.
