Palin / RNC = Idiocracy
I remember in 2000 when I fully expected Gore to clean Bush's clock in the debates (and he certainly did on substance). My expectations for Bush's performance were very, very low, but, alas, he acquitted himself much better than I expected he would. Roll forward to the 2008 RNC and the "unveiling" of Sarah Palin. I was hearing/reading what a great speaker she was, so I guess I had higher expectations than I did for Bush in 2000. I watched her speech and I was thoroughly unimpressed. She speaks somewhat better than Bush, but without substance and seems to me to be very much in over her head. Hearing the response of the RNC crowd to her speech, weighed against my reaction to it, the film "Idiocracy" immediately came to mind. If these people have their way, that's where this country is headed.
Obama '08 - Is there really any other choice?

1. Dude, I was around a bunch of right wingers last night
They are over the moon about Palin. They kept using the phrase "game changer" and one of them kept needling me about whether us Dems are nervous about her. I said you're damn right we are, she's just like Bush. It's like there are 2 different countries now. The reality based one where you and I live and the parallel back asswards one where they reside.

2. No shit...it's like the "Men are from Mars - Women are from Venus " thing
I really feel like we are a different species or something.
The USA USA USA chanting - like it's a football game. The really sad thing is how badly Bush & co have damaged this country and these people not only don't seem to get it, they want more of it!

5. Intelligent, educated people find her offensive
Unfortunately, the Republicans are deliberately running against intelligent, educated people. They're the party of the stupid and the uneducated, and they're proud of it.
