MSNBC is really pushing the latest CBS poll to claim the race is tied.
Thanks to some statistical anomaly, the latest CBS poll has Obama and McCain tied at 42%. (Obama is still in the lead with Rasmusen and Gallup).

So all day MSNBC has been highlighting this poll and again pushing the meme that the "game is on".

Give me a break!

3. Not a statistical anomaly, CBS changed their demographic percentages.

They took away 5% independents and added 5% republicans to their demographics.

So more like statistical manipulation.

9. AAAAHH! NOW it makes sense. I thought it was weird that there were 2 CBS polls...
... so close in succession: one right after the DNC (Obama 8 pts up) and another in the middle of the RNC (tied). That was odd, given most other polling organizations had waited until after the DNC to conduct polls (none during the convention), and apparently are also waiting until after the RNC, too (daily polls excepted).

I don't worry about the CBS poll; and I think others will show a slight bounce for McCain. But I think in a couple of weeks, Obama wil have a solid lead (4-8%) averaging all polls. Of course, the media will still say it's "tied" citing MOE and some individual polls of their choosing, because they want the horserace for ratings.

5. Oh to heck with it.
The media will push the horserace no matter what. It could be a fifteen point gap and they would push it. Let's just take heart that it will motivate our side even more.

11. Doesn't matter - they probably will be tied in 2-3 days anyway
Let them be the "first" to state this.

The fight is on - let's stop whining and start shining.
