Obama Camp Needs Volunteers
We need an army out there calling people, knocking on doors, signing up voters before the deadlines in your states eek up and it's too late.

Yesterday I called older "undecided" voters - I converted two women to Obama and I was the first call they had received. I never bought into that theory about if you don't ask for their vote, you won't get it, until I experienced it myself in the primaries. Considering my background as city/state delegate in previous elections and having volunteered for Bill Clinton, I found it curious that I did not receive one call, nor one piece of direct mail from Hillary campaign.

Even MoveOn is calling people and asking their members to go to the Obama office and sign up.

If you can spare some time, it's needed NOW more than ever.

1. If you want to make sure McCain does not get to sit his ass in the White House
Find some time, find an Obama campaign office.

2. They are really on the ground in Virginia
They called me for two weeks every day until I agreed to become a Precinct Leader (it's a lot of work and I work full time so I wasn't sure at first). Now we are calling volunteers in our precinct so we can organize and mobilize the entire neighborhood. Every precinct in Eastern Prince William County Virginia is doing the same. If you go to the website you can find a group of individuals in your area that are organizing.

You can sign up with this neighbor to neighbor thing and get started organizing in your area:

5. This is a war worth fighting ... it needs to be Priority #1 until the election
Think of paying yourself back for your time with reduced health insurance and education costs, etc.

12. I'm already there.
Did a shift of phone banking yesterday, will be doing it continuously a few times a week up until the election.

I did get a moran that told me "I won't vote for anyone with the name Hussein!" yesterday, though I got far more supporters, and had a good discussion with an undecided on the illegal immigration issue. Hopefully I helped her swing our way.

15. do you get notes to follow when someone asks you a question?
I'd really be afraid that I would screw it up somehow if I had to go just by memory.

and thanks for your work! You are one of the persons we've been waiting for. ;)

16. We get a few notes... but.
One thing I found really helps - we do get to sit in front of computers when making phone calls - surf to barackobama.com, click on the ISSUES link and there's a big list of various issues that Obama has official positions on.

Anyone have info on how to sign up to make calls to swing state voters from another state?

17. That was an option in 2004
I can't remember which group (moveon?) did it, but you could log into a database and retrieve a phone number of someone in a swing state and call.

19. Actually, I think I did make some calls for MoveON in 2004
I found a voter registration event in LR tomorrow at a tailgate event before a Razorbacks football game in LR. There will be 50,000 - 60,000 people in the stadium area.

but I've already gone down and signed up to do some phone banking for the local Obama office. I'll probably be calling to different counties and states that are more red. :D

30. Yes, now is the time to put our heads down and work.
We can win this race, but it is far from in the bag. The Obama website is amazing. They have so many ways to volunteer. Some examples of ways people can help: You can call voter lists from home on your cell phone, do outreach to friends and neighbors, or use your online networking groups for voter registration purposes.

I just posted the Vote for Change link on my Facebook page. Easy. Anyone can do it. In addition, I have been down to the local Obama HQ a few times to phone bank. During the primary, I used the online tool to make calls from home. Easy. Anyone can do it.
