Previous Palin interviews (Glenn Beck, CNBC)
Edited on Fri Sep-05-08 12:37 PM by TwoSparkles
These two Palin interviews--one on Glenn Beck's show and one on CNBC, where
Larry Kudlow interviews here--are up on You Tube.

I have to say that she is not bad in these interview. In fact, she does pretty well and she
says, "Senator McCain is wrong on that issue..." as she speaks about drilling in Alaska.

(So, did McCain flip-flop on the Alaska drilling issue?)

Granted, she's discussing one topic--drilling in Alaska. However, she can hold her on
on these national shows.

So, what's the problem now? She was willing to be interviewed on CNBC and on the Glenn
Beck program before she was running for Vice President of the United States.

Someone needs to ask Palin why she wasn't press averse before, but appears to be running
from the media now?

1. Bah, they are about as softball as they can be.
Hell, Beck was lobbing the pitches to her and telling her when to swing.

She - is - a - lightweight.

Period.

2. I can't watch right now, but did they ask her tough foreign policy questions?
I imagine the answer is no and they're scared to death that she'll turn into a deer in the headlights when the inevitable question of "How would you handle the situation in South Ossetia?" comes about.

Also, I can't wait when someone asks her to name the top leader in China.

9. Yup. Why gamble? Media needs to call them on it
But oh well. She can dish out the insults but can't take them

6. Glenn Beck and Kudlow?
You seriously can't consider those to be serious interviews? Maybe Hannity and Limbaugh could do all her interviews till November.

7. Is there enough weird shit here to
Edited on Fri Sep-05-08 12:46 PM by BlueIdaho
create a series of viral news spots? I'm thinking something like...

"Since the republicans are afraid to let Sarah take any new questions for the press. We thought we'd provide some answers from her old old press interiews."

Show clip if Sarah's insanity

"America deserves to know more about the woman who wants to be a heartbeat away from the presidency."

edit - typo

8. She's a one.trick.pony
On Charlie Rose she was asked about education and immediately answered about oil and gas and completely dodged the question. She's all about oil. Period.

11. She's a lightweight and I'm not talking credentials
She's already admitted she hasn't put much thought into the Iraq war and is allowed to pretend she's a part of anything. That's empty and should be played constantly.

John McCain has put someone a heartbeat away that is too emptyheaded to put some thought into a war that her own son is being deployed to. That can't hold up, we can't let it. She should be backburnered for sure but this demonstrates a level of out of touch that few can digest and it will reflect very poorly on George W. McCain.

10. I read that in the Alaska governor debates she kept dodging policy questions
about specifics and just spouted some line about her relying upon advisers. So she apparently isn't up on most issues like she is on the oil and gas issue. And saying she will rely on advisers won't cut it in the VP debates.

But regardless, it's becoming clear that she's most likely going to be a more attractive candidate than McCain. That's why we need to focus on his weaknesses rather than on hers.

12. They're not afraid of her ability to answer questions - they're afraid of the answers themselves
I'm sure Palin is capable of fielding any question from a tv personality. She's already been through campaigns for mayor, for lieutenant governor, and for governor. She's had experience on television as a sportscaster. But I think what scares the McCain camp is what will be revealed if a politically moderate journalist asks her about her religious views including anti-semitism, her position on social issues including women's and gay's rights, her experience with the AIP, her firings of state employees, her views on education and health care and the like.

If Obama could go on O'Reilly, why can't Palin go on Keith Olbermann's show? The reason is that Obama is not an extremist and nothing O'Reilly says, does, or asks can bring that out. Palin however is an extremist and an in-depth interview will hurt her deeply with moderates and independents.

15. True, but
all her previous campaigns have been about local issues. Her town and her state. Now she's on the world stage. What does she know about foreign policy, treaties, global economy, etc? Will she be provided the questions before the debate?

14. McCain was one of the Republicans who voted against drilling in ANWR
And in 2000 (or 2001) he and Kerry fought for a real increase in the CAFE standards. (Also as Kerry said in his covention speech - Candidate McCain would vote against Senator McCain 's global warming bill.)
