Willie Horton part 2. Mega-racist 527 ad links Obama/Kilpatrick (VIDEO)
Edited on Fri Sep-05-08 02:44 PM by Kurt_and_Hunter
VIDEO: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0SODIFZXIPA

"The conservative Freedom Defense Fund is already up with an ad with a voiceover of Barack Obama praising just resigned and jail-bound Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick as a "great mayor… and a leader not just in Detroit but all across the country… I'm grateful to call him a friend," with the primary image a mug shot of Kilpatrick with text overlaid with the charges against him. At then end, white on black text reads: "You should know who Barack Obama's friends are.""

2. Wow, like he should have known Kilpatrick was going to do that
MoveOn should make an add with McCain praising someone like that. Maybe larry craig or maybe abramoff or maybe ted stevens.

4. Wow, never saw that coming.
I fully expect some 527 on our side to hit McCain with Keating 5, Abramoff, and worse, if needed. Then there is always McCain's best friend George. Obama offering platitudes about a Democratic mayor pales in comparison with supporting Bush 90% of the time.

5. Obama campaign better be ready
I'm betting come late October, if the polls still look bad for the Republicans, we'll see a whole slew of ads on Kilpatrick, Ayers, Rezko, and various people with Arab names. I think the best way to answer that is twofold: similar ads about McCain, and plenty of ads showing Obama over the years was totally legitimate and respectable white men.

But, let's face it, the Republicans are capable of stooping disgracefully low, and it ought to be expected.

6. I presume we've got our Keating Five ads ready any time.
John Sidney McCain III, humble public servant with seven homes and $520 loafers, has dear friends like Charles Keating. He also has dear Phil Gramm who tell us to stop whining when his friends are bailed out by the federal government and we get nothing.

20. Keating may be old news but it was a huge scandal.
And as someone else said, POW is old news but they revive that ad infinitum.

10. How about an ad against McLame about Jack Abramoff's 4-year prison sentence?
I mean geez, there is so much material that a MoveOn can do.... Keating 5 and McLame's censure in the Senate for example?

There's a difference between "guilt by association" which they constantly do to Obama, and "guilt by the candidate his or herself", which is the situation McPalin!

11. The speech was 2 years ago, before the text message scandal that brought
down Kwame. Of course, facts don't matter to reich wingers.

15. This was a mistake...
The people of MI aren't stupid so this doesn't have legs. Kilpatrick, despite having plead guilty, was well-liked and McCain seems to have forgotten he has a serious problem named Jack Abramoff.

Perhaps something like this:

This is John McCain's friend, Jack. (Photo of Abramoff)
play clip of McCain praising Abramoff, calling him "My friend"
Jack recently went to prison for 4 years for bribing members of Congress with fancy gifts, trips, meals and cash in exchange for votes benefiting John and Jack's friends. (Quick-flip montage of photos of Abramoff's clients.)
(Scroll list of events hosted by Abramoff attended by McCain, etc.)
No wonder John likes Jack so very very much.

Simple, brutal, effective...implies everything and explicitly says nothing.

It's a blatantly racist ad. If you didn't know who Kilpatrick was, you'd think he was some sort of violent criminal from the look of the ad. The implication that Obama somehow approved Kilpatrick's behavior is obscene, and that ad needs to be slapped down. I think the Democrats shoudl call on McCain to denounce that ad.
