1. I didn't think so at all... but if this affair story turns out to be true...
.. I think there's a better shot of it.

11. It's too late
If McCain wants to dump her, he'll try to force her to resign once elected.

13. Why would they do that? Once they're in, they'll definitely keep her.

27. With her ignorance, tendency to abuse power and multiple scandals?
No, she's a pure political pick who's nothing more than a liability. McCain is probably not very interested in reelection. He'd welcome the chance to replace her with Lieberman.

10. It will not happen
This is the ticket the Republicans are going to run and the dings against her are incredibly mild. They have just come all at once. All this stuff will blow over and it will be a presidential race again.

McCain's got nothing. Palin at least energizes their base. They're gonna go with this.

19. If he knew what was good for him he would but I doubt it
The freepers are already openly wishing for his death (after he is elected) so she can assume the presidency.

But I don't think he is in any position to make that decision. He's more or less been neutered and the powers that be won't let him cut her loose, even if pictures of her fucking a moose come out.

20. No, I believe this is the GOP's tactic to rile up the religious right for next election.
They're getting McCain to take a dive, and they'll try to paint it as an attack on Christianity.

21. Speculation is utterly pointless
Edited on Fri Sep-05-08 03:58 PM by matt819
But what the hell. She stays on the ticket. For some reason he has to drop out - illness, Alzheimers, whatever. Repubs move her up to the top spot and get an experienced pol into the VP slot. I have no idea if any of this is legally or logistically possible, but she is a force to be reckoned with, or, as other posters have observed, a trap for us to fall into - whether it's in the debate, avoiding the press, etc. I'm not sure all of this was planned, but once they saw that they had identified one of their own - vile, nasty, pathological liar - they are going to game this election.

will wish to prevent (further) harm to her family.
