1. My Republican wife is one.... and that's a GOOD thing....

For the first time in our marriage (19 years), she's thinking of NOT voting Republican.

2. They are the one's who complain, but don't educate themselves on the
realities of life. AND they are the disaffected who really don't like either party.

4. These are people who don't follow politics and don't really care about it.
These are the people who can't even name our CURRENT president or VP.

We wonder how anyone can possibly be undecided at this late date, but people who are not football fans don't have a favorite football team either, and there's nothing unusual about that.

They're definitely out there, and I find them scary as hell.

6. I know a few.

A few people at work are like this.

They are people who are not really interested in politics, who don't really pay attention to what's going on but they feel that it's their duty to vote.

I tell them they need to educate themselves about each candidate and where each stand on the issues.

As much as I try to persuade them to vote for Obama, I know some won't. I know I shouldn't feel this way but as long as they vote I can't really judge them for who they vote for. There are so many out there who don't even vote at all.

campaign.

I have been talking to these people for weeks now. They honestly are undecided. I have had people tell me they are "all mixed up" or confused.

I think these people lean more republican and if things had gone well these past eight years they would not have any problem voting for McCain.

The vibe I am getting is that these are middle of the road type people who understand what a mess things are and that something has to give. Obama is a very different kind of candidate, not because of his race but because of what he is saying. I think for a lot of these people it is a big step for them and they are just working through it.

8. Seem to be people without a firm understanding of the fundamental
philosophical, economic and social underpinnings of the parties. Or who just don't care about those difs.

Undecideds have always bothered me because of this - they seem to vote for the individuals. I vote for the principles.

10. My 70 year old mother is one, she adored JFK and RFK and
yet voted for Bush in 2000 (which boggles my mind). She is basically uninformed on most issues and tends to dislike all politicans, so she bases her decisions on how much she likes the person. Sometimes she just doesn't vote for President if she doesn't like the choices (as in 2004).

The good news is that she despises McCain - she thinks he's a 'whore' (her word) because he has changed so much over the years and just panders. She also thinks he is too old for the job - she bases this on her own level of energy and stamina. I have not yet fully convinced her to vote Obama, but she's getting there. She likes and trusts Biden, so that really helped. Oh, and she thinks Palin is a nutjob!

11. Indecisive in general
I saw a news program during the 2004 presidential elections, can't remember the network. It was a reporter interviewing a room full of undecided voters. They were the most indecisive people I've ever seen in my life. Most admitted to having a hard time making even simple decisions, like what outfit to wear in the morning. Most also admitted they make up their mind when they're in the voting booth, and often make their final decision for a frivolous reason.

13. Didn't they split for Bush over Kerry in large numbers in 2004?
In this election, if they stay 50/50, we should still win.

14. They listened to Clinton's scathing, but perfectly fair critiques against Obama
They remember McCain as a maverick from some 6-8 years ago. People are busy. Few are news junkies. It's not surprising that in a year with two such unlikely and unexpected candidates, some people can't decide. I think about the people I know at work (not socially) where social viewpoints are so varied, and having 10-15% undecided seems perfectly natural to me.

voters "are the dumbest people in the world" and so to get them to support her she said "9/11" over and over.

23. I've run across a few of them. It's usually like this:
"I guess I better make up my mind who I should vote for. I haven't really thought about it much."
And then they don't vote at all... "Better things to do".

25. I've wondered myself just who these undecideds could possibly be.
The only things that Obama and McCain have in common are that they are both males and they are both U.S. Senators. The similarity end there and they are otherwise so different that it boggles the imagination that anybody would be undecided as to who should get their vote. Evidently a lot of these people are willingly ignorant, but it's unfortunate that they don't make as much effort in educating themselves on who should be the next president as they do on buying a new tv.
