and this implies a 5-year survival of 40-85% (T2b, T3a). Evidently this staging was done in 2000 and he has had recurrences since then. So...although there is no medical evidence of recurrence as far as we know, McCain may be a "robust" 72 year old, but nonetheless he is not the typical healthy 72 year old American. Furthermore, he has looked pale in his last public appearances including the acceptance speech and today's Wisconsin circus with Sarah Palin. We as Americans, Republicans, Democrats, and Independents need to be completely sure that this relatively unknown VP candidate is properly vetted and we have to know that she is ready to be Commander in Chief in case McCain is elected President and for some misfortune is not able to complete his first term. Just my opinion.

I should know, since I had a bout with melanoma years ago, but I don't. At that time, if you got it all, you were cured, if you didn't, if it had entered the bloodstream, you were dead. Does this indicate there's a treatment for it now?

T3a: the tumor is 2.01-4.0 mm thick, with no ulceration
N0: the tumor has not spread to nearby lymph nodes
M0: the tumor has not spread to sites distant from the primary tumor

This indicates that the tumor(s) has not spread. I'm assuming they removed it?

lymph nodes, but he got a single metastasis in his lung ten years later. A single melanoma cell got PAST the lympn nodes and went directly to the lung.

He's now dying. Even that surgery didn't save him in the long run.
