Palin's plane sold to a DONOR? At a LOSS??
Anne Kornblut reported that on MSNBC.

The plane belonging to Alaska was apparently sold to a donor, and at a significant loss for the state.

What kind of cronyism is going on with this??!! What is the timing of the donations and the sale/payment??

1. Sounds like cronyism to me
At the very least, a conflict of interest. Sarah wants to pretend that she is ready to lead our military if something happens to 5 cancer McCain, but she hasn't a clue as to what is considered fraternization--and the big no-no that it is.

30. First they played a clip from McCain speaking in WI
guess he hasn't gotten the updated version of the ebay plane. Because when discussing how very clever his Sarah is, he said 1)she took the plane and put it on Ebay, 2) she SOLD it on Ebay, and 3) the best news of all? SHE MADE A PROFIT. How amazing is that?

All of this said to enthusiastic cheers, no less. Then the reporters gave the true scoop, adding the detail that it was sold to someone who had contributed to her campaign, and I think the Alaska rep. assn? And that they believed Sarah knew the donor, but wanted to keep fact checking that part.

I knew when Palin said she put the plane on Ebay, she wanted dope-sh*t voters to BELIEVE that meant she sold it. And since Sarah is such a business wonder, also assume a profit.

It was supposed to be misleading to voters - but how dumb is McCain that he was willing to also be mislead?? Or so dumb, he agreed to lie and add in the "sold" and "profit" part to his speech? This is getting way worse when the only transparency I see is in the lying.

10.  Technically, Palin didn't lie. She said she put it up on eBay. She left out that it didn't sell.
Edited on Fri Sep-05-08 05:58 PM by OmmmSweetOmmm
That it is now discovered that she sold it to a donor is going to add more fuel to the ever increasing barn fire! :)

23. McCain probably doesn't know the truth either
he probably just saw her plane on ebay answer on their extensive vetting questionaire, and said "Sounds good to me, soulmate!" He repeated it at a rally today...wonder if he'll keep the "sold it on ebay for a profit" stretch, or slightly adjust it now.

13. She'll get away with it
She said she "put it up for sale on eBay." She never said she sold it there.
Typical Republican lies couched in nice propaganda. However, if the transaction
was indeed to a donor and the plane sold at a loss to the State, she just opened
a potential can of worms--IF anyone bothers to investigate it. The MSM won't unless
the blogosphere makes it impossible to ognore.

18. Well, maybe Mccain really thinks that because the plane was sold,
that automatically means there was a profit.

After all, he doesn't understand this economics business all that well.....

really does think that it sold on ebay for a profit, since it seems that they did not vet any of the other talking points that have been debunked either.

21. It was sold for 2.1 million, bought for 2.7. I found it on google the other day.
the important point is that McCain is NOT being nailed for lying about it more than once

they don't CARE when he lies, apparently

her, either

the bridge to nowhere BS is getting no coverage, despite it being repeated in front of 38.5 million people last night in that insipid video

wtf?????

25. Actually, not confirmed what Alaska paid for it....
It was valued at 2.7 million at the time Palin sold it to a wealthy Republican donor for 2.1 million. I'm not sure what Alaska bought it for. Regardless, she left at least half a million on the table.

28. As I understood it, it was valued at 2.7 million
at the time it was purchased, 2 years later it was sold for 2.1 million (Not on eBay, but we already know that). I have no idea what the depreciation on this sort of stuff is, nor could I find what the actual "blue book" value of the plane was at the time it was sold. As I understand it, the maintenance and fuel costs on these things can be quite substantial (Just ask P Diddy) so I'm sure, if pressed, they'll be able to do some creative accounting to explain the "profit" aspect of it.
