I'm taking a forced break from this Forum. It has become the Palin Forum, and I don't like it.
It is way over the top.
smells like Peyton place around here.
And the obsession for this woman, even in trying to dig up dirt
has become the new pastime, unfortunately.

My candidate has like 2 threads about him, if that.

I won't be here to witness when the polls even out,
and the nervous nellies start doubting our
most sublime dynamic Dynamic Ticket

I'll be busy writing letters to the Newspapers to help shape the debate to keep Obama on top,
by talking about Barack and Joe.....About why they are my pick, and why they should be the pick
of other voters.

Our guys have been busy today! :patriot:

See Ya! :hi:

Focus on baby, affair, teenager....never mind civil liberties, tax breaks for big oil, her flat earth beliefs.

All this Palin bullshit is nothing but a DISTRACTION!

We will kick ass on the issues, the rest is a red herring and I'm amazed how many people are flocking to it!

68. Actually it is true. BO has capitualated on almost
every important issue that he ran on. He now supports gun ownership ala Heller, he admits that the surge worked and that we are winning (won) in Iraq. He is all over the map on the economy! His health care plan is watered down Hillary. He stands for change but changing to what?

If he is to beat McCain, it will be on charisma alone. The rest has been prostituted away.

"Sliming the vile bitch?"

The culture wars were created by right wing propagandists. They set up a playing field and have every advantage in it. They scripted our roles and lines for us. We cannot win it. But so long as we are willing to play, we lose.

It is a phony war. You are chasing shadows and swinging at thin air. There us nothing you can possibly do that helps the right wing more than to allow yourself to get suckered into this cultural war nonsense.

You can be as high minded as you want to and stick to the issues when the plain folks are going gaga over Palin but you'll be sitting there on November 5th bewildered with President-Elect McCain. I've seen enough elections where we refused to engage forcefully and THEN redirect back to us. How many times do we have to lose in order for Democrats to get it?

I am an original member of the Biden group here on DU and now I usually just read and post there if I want to catch up on their daily events. GD-P has become a wasteland.

23. great pics Frenchie!
I know how you feel, but I think it's just a lot of frustration we all feel about this idiotic VP pick. The sarcasm, unprofessionalism, lies, and just down right stupidity of the McCain campaign has people reeling. We do not like how she talked about our guy and his "community organizing" and we/I can't stand her smugness with avoiding the MSM questions. I think that's what is going on here and I have to admit, I feel a lot of anger about it too, however, you are right, we have to stay focused. The McCain camp is waging it's bets on us getting frustrated and rattled. When actually we shouldn't be. Obama and Biden bring strength, wisdom, courage, insight, and yes, tons of personality :D So if we are voting on who has the best personality our guys win hands down:applause:

You do a good thing here--you keep us focused! Some of us are listening;) You better not go anywhere, 'cause for one thing, you always have the best pics and secondly, you're needed!

38. I think that many enjoy writing for the DU Enquirer. It is much more fun
than posting about policy differences. Normally DU stays away from personal scandals (or issues) and focuses on the war, the economy, civil rights, etc. We even blast freepers and RWers for spending so much time interfering in people's personal lives.

So along comes an occasion where we can let our guns blast away about a politician's family life (to work or stay at home), teenage pregnancy (for once we get to judge a girl and her mother), marital fidelity (WE get to go looking for a blue dress), etc. It is kind of a release that we can be "freepers" for a day, before we go back to being boring policy wonks and discussing how stupid and dangerous McCain's positions are.

The tube-people are doing the vetting that the McCain camp didn't think was necessary. She is a woman, after all, what could she have to hide?

The idea is simple. If it can be proven that McCain made a serious judgement blunder in picking his running mate, then it can be easily inferred that he can't make the right decision when it matters on any issue.'

If you don't like it, you're doing the right thing by leaving.

I left for several months during the primaries - I know Hillary supporters won't believe this, but I was beaten up whenever I argued AGAINST Hillary. I hated the tone and sniping so much that I left.
(Hey, I was 100% behind Edwards, and thank god THAT didn't happen)

Now we're all united behind Obama, and whatever else is going on is OK by me.

Take some time off - it will be good for your blood pressure (unless, of course, you're doing what my mother used to call "being a martyr", in which case, good luck with that)

60. Do not ignore this lightweight
The little men behind the curtain (cuz there's more than one carney hustler pulling the levers back there) were able to foist the bastard child of Howdy Doody and Alfred E. Newman on us twice, over the bones of two vastly superior intellects. I think back to the late great Bill Hicks and his routine about the other Kennedy assassination film. You might recall it - the one where Hicks talks about a newly inaugurated president being whisked back to a secret screening room at the White House and shown a 8mm clip that looks like Zapruder, but is shot from another vantage point (suspiciously like the grassy knoll). The film ends, the lights go up, and one of the cigar-chomping fat cats in the room asks the new President, "Any questions?" I have had the feeling for almost 8 years now that some of those same cigar aficionados brought us the Shrub on a bet (ala "Pygmalion," "My Fair Lady" or "Trading Places"). Picture it: the boys-who-own-everything sitting in a real leather and polished wood private club somewhere and Fat Man #1 turns to Fat Man #2 and says, "I bet you a dollar we can get these chumps (that would be us) to elect a totally clueless bum straight from the cast of Animal House." And Fat Man 1 collected his dollar (and maybe they went double or nothing on the 2004 election). Problem for us is that we are now suffering the economical, environmental, and foreign policy chaos resulting from these two experiments. For metaphorical illustrations, see the Three Stooges versions of this kind of wagering, e.g. the pie fights at the end of "Hoi Polloi" (Columbia Short Subject 1933) and "Half Wits Holiday" (Columbia Short Subject 1947)and "Pies and Guys" (Columbia Short Subject 1958). The Stooges figured they could feed us the same fare three times, and I betting that the Fat Guys in the smoke-filled club are certain they can run this scam again with someone even more outrageously under-qualified. Wasn't it Jefferson who said the people get the government they deserve? And Benjamin Franklin said, "Only a virtuous people are capable of freedom. As nations become more corrupt and vicious, they have more need of masters." If we let this lightweight become VP, what will that say about us? In less than a decade we will have gone from Rhodes Scholar to confused frat boy cheerleader to hapless hockey mom. Getting a kid to the rink on time is certainly sufficient prior experience, don't ya think?

DON'T LET UP ON THIS LADY AND DON'T LET UP ON THE MASTER FLIP-FLOPPER WHO PICKED HER.

64. You need to take a break from CNN, and stop parroting their stupid talking points.
When will some people learn?

75. Guess what? Palin is the most dangerous thing to threaten our chances in November.
Damn straight she's going to be discussed nonstop. We will overturn every stone, every pebble, every grain of F'ing sand until she has been thoroughly politically and personally dissected. Whatever ammo I can use against her, depending on the person I'm discussing her with, I intend to do so.

After hearing her G'damn high-school-theatrics rant that is being praised as a "speech," the gloves are off. I have despised people like that since I was old enough to see them for what they are.

She's dangerous. I want her exposed for what she is, whatever it takes.
