I'm getting confused. She's doing all the talking. He just smiles and claps. I don't get it.

1. Judging by the innumerable Palin posts here and the obsession with her
my guess is that many somehow believe she is really the candidate who Obama is running against and tearing her down is the key to winning the election.

4. Well if she's "the one" they should put her at the top of the ticket.
Are they just going to vote for her in hopes McCain kicks the bucket? Sick.

6. It is the key
McCain is a known quantity. He is also very old, in poor health, and probably won't survive his first term. So effectively Sarah Palin is running for president, since once she settles in as VP, she is only a very frail heartbeat away. We need to have people picturing her as President, and not just as a accessory to McCain.

8. I believe that Republicans would like us to get caught up in the distraction and misdirection
of Palin. Obama's opponent is McCain and we disregard that fact at our peril.

It reminds me of a scene from the movie "Seabiscuit" where Tobey Maguire is riding him in a race he is sure to win, but then he gets all caught up and distracted with the rider who tried to run him into the rail and another horse comes from behind and passes them both, winning. McCain is our opponent.

23. It's not people here that did this.
McCain let himself get upstaged. Now Obama and Biden need to stay focused and pretend that McCain is the repubs candidate but the fact remains she is more popular and has upstaged him. Talk to the screaming fans that clap politely for him and scream like school kids when he says her name.

2. I don't have cable/sat
I haven't seen anyone giving speeches on my TV. Last I heard Palin was in seclusion heading back to Alaska. Has that changed?

PS - if he doesn't send her out on her own and let her talk to reporters, soon? She's going to look more like a cheerleader than a Vice President. To everyone - not just Dems.

11. I agree. IMO, McCain is making himself look weak and foolish by
making her the 'star'. He's acknowledging that his own party base doesn't like him and he needs her to attract crowds and generate enthusiasm. This is a strategy that might work well with the hard core base, but will not play well with moderates and Independents.

How will it look if she pulls in huge excited crowds and he has a few hundred retirees falling asleep? By staying with her he can at least pretend the clapping is for him as well.

9. Remember
No one has heard of her except Alaskans, some dead wolves and moose, and a few lunatic fringe blowhards on the radio. Almost everyone has heard of Biden. So he has to throw her out there to introduce herself to the sheeple who were watching the Food Network or WWE wrestling while she was talking.

Thing is, he can't do this much longer. He doesn't "work weekends" and this must be killing him!!!!!

Also, I watch Food Network and HATE WWE. What's the connection between good food and wrestling?

13. Palin is, because almost everyone is counting on McCain to croak.
In fact, I would bet that a lot of Repubs are now very eagerly looking forward to that event after Jan 2009 should he manage to *cough* win the election *wink-wink-nudge-nudge-Diebold*

16. The GOP wet dream is to have Palin as President from 2012-2020 (plus McLame's pick-up years)
Potentially 12 years of one administration.

26. I don't see him lasting another two years.
Campaigning is very hard on the immune system, and he's in a seriously weakened condition already, I don't care if his campaign says otherwise. He can't even project his voice, from what I've seen in online videos.
