Im am nervous about all this... why?
Because Americans are dumb. They actually are buying the Palin selection as some kind of progressive move by McCain. This is the same kind of mentality that got us GW for 2 terms.

Please someone explain to me why I should not be nervous, and why we have no reason to worry...

1. Harris and Blackwell gave us Bush
Believe that.

We're going to be alright.

2. Here's the deal...
If Americans have learned their lesson after 8 years of Bush, then they will vote for Obama.
If Americans have NOT learned their lesson, then will vote for McCain. If McCain wins then they will have another 4 years in which to try again to learn their lesson.

In other words, the American public will, as it always does, get EXACTLY the president they deserve. I for one am through shedding tears for those who suffer the natural consequences of being deliberately, willfully ignorant.

If McCain wins, I'm off to the hills to live out my remaining years as a hermit.

3. Economics.
Nearly everyone is hurting in some way or other these days. McCain, no matter what he says or does, is tied to Bush and the Republican party, and that means more of the same, however you look at it.

Obama is a Democrat, and therefore is tied to the Clinton administration which, as we know, was a great time economically in this country. So he can make a very believable case for improving things--and he is doing it.

All people who are not paying attention need to know is what letter comes after their names, D or R.

4. No, lackluster campaigns by Kerry and Gore gave us Bush.
I do love both Kerry and Gore, but it seemed like their campaigns were lost at times. Bush had solid support, a great ground game and because of that, won in key states. Yes, Kerry was cheated out of Ohio and yes, Gore out of Florida, however, had Kerry been able to win Colorado, Iowa and Nevada and had Gore carried his home state of Tennessee or New Hampshire, he'd have been president.

Obama isn't making the same mistakes as the those two. Also, Kerry was down big at this point in the 2004 race. Obama leads in nearly every poll.

5. The people will give this to Obama
but you won't be allowed to keep it if the GOP machine has its way. We may be hanging on by a few per cent of rationality when most people are stupidly divided and misinformed and easily distracted, but it still looks like the majority is on our side. Watch, suddenly the people are considered smart and committed when an incumbent second term Obama racks up the 70% reason should dictate now.

Our civilization surviving however is not a plurality decision. That is another matter. The 30% can destroy us all. History gives disheartening, consistent warning of that.

6. You have every reason to be nervous as I am right along with you because as you

say the American public is clueless enough to buy into the McCain/Palin lies and bs.

The unfortunate result is that you and I suffer right along with them due to their ignorance.

Europe has already said if we go with another 4 years of Bush the American people get what they deserve.

If they would pay attention, it really is not that difficult to determine who the best candidate and VP is.

McCain says he is a maverick and if they would look, he is a former maverick.

He has helped Bush all along the way by supporting his policies and voting with him 90% of the time.

McCain like GWB has made it this far because of family money and power, not of his own ability. He was almost last in his class at the naval academy, wrecked airplanes and got caught and became a POW. Because of his name and POW status, he was elevated to congress and has used POW every step of the way. Not even close to the intelligence, abilities and leadership skills of Obama, Kerry and Gore. Look how much this country and the world has lost due to the American people choosing mediocrity over greatness. Where would we be now if even one of those guys had won?

Palin, they are still learning about but already we know she wants to outlaw abortion in every single case, even in cases of incest and rape.

She is against stem cell research.
She has a very rigid anti gay rights belief.
She has banned or burned library books in the town where she was mayor. They are still trying to find out which
books she had destroyed.

Republicans/Democrats in Alaska all say she will try to destroy you if you disagree with her.
She has lied about the bridge to nowhere and she has lied about the plane being sold on Ebay. What else has she lied about?

I think she is more dangerous than GWB because she can speak, give a speech and probably a little smarter although not much.

All I know is that she is anti-choice, pro-guns, a hockey mom, a runner up in a beauty pageant, doesn't know what the role of the VP is and doesn't really have an opinion on Iraq. This is the model of domesticity that Conservatives feel befits a woman. Given the fact that McCain hasn't picked a VP but a First Lady; they should let Michelle Obama debate her. She'd have her for breakfast.

You have every right to be nervous.

7. I truthfully believe this is why the GOP underfunds education....
To keep our public uninformed, uneducated, and unable to understand the real issues.

8. All the facts are not in yet but on bookbanning
As near as I can tell, the mayor wanted to ban books from the library. The librarian resisted, perhaps by saying something like, "I'm not entirely sure that is a good idea." The mayor then erupted and either fired the librarian or demanded that she be fired. The citizens then began a drive to rehire or retain the librarian.

This was later followed by a recall effort.

Wait until she finds out she can't fire a federal judge.
