rent "We Were Soldiers, Once". Yeah, I know it's Mel Gibson, but you will never find a more accurate portrayal of ground combat, unless you are unfortunate enough to find yourself in the middle of it. I experienced two pitched battles and a handful of running fire fights in the A Shau Valley during Lam Son 719 and Operation Texas Star, and "Country First" never crossed my fucking mind. Every swinging dick in my platoon fought for the grunt in the next hole.
And yet, another un-winnable civil war is precisely the kind of mess that the Senile Chest Thumper, the host of "USA" chanting idiots at the RNC, and McCain's new best friend, Caribou Barbie, have no qualms about placing us in for the next hundred years. Don't let it happen.

And even though it wasn't my unit, 7th Cav! Gary Owen! Oooooh- rah!
