Edited on Sun Sep-07-08 06:32 AM by Stuart G
She is likely to make some stupid mistake. So is Mc Idiot. (remember that temper)
I see a huge landslide. Most people will not buy this crap. Maybe for a little while, but not on November 4.

1. First big mistake..
..hiding from a media that was super eager to give her lots of free airtime.

30. Palin's mocking of community workers may indeed resonate..
Edited on Sun Sep-07-08 08:01 AM by Stuart G
Trying to help out our neighbors and communities may resonate far beyond this news cycle. This is the essence of our country..
... There are far more of us then there are of them. And they will not apologize. Too many of them mocked "community organizers"..this may do it. Let us wait and see.

6. Gerald Ford Was Thirty Three Points Behind Jimmy Carter
Edited on Sun Sep-07-08 07:09 AM by DemocratSinceBirth
In one of the debates (this is 1976) he said that Poland was not under Soviet control...He closed the gap to almost nothing...

In 1980 Reagan made a bad ethnic joke about Italians and Poles...He went on to win...

In 1988 Lloyd Bentsen absolutely clowned Dan Quayle telling him "I knew Jack kennedy, Jack kennedy was a friend of mine and you're no Jack Kennedy" in a debate after he compared himself to Kennedy

In 04 Kerry used Bush* as a punching bag in his debates and went on to lose...

This race is going to be close... I can't figure out voters...

9. To be honest with you, most people could not think thier way
out of a wet bag. That is why polls jump up and down so much with conventions, speeches etc. That is also why as democrats we cannot let down our guard, and we have to work hard, till the polls close

11. IMHO, I see two scenarios
She reveals herself to be a blithering fool and it (doesn't) matter or she comes off your run of the mill dullard...Either way this race is going to be close...

I have some pet theories of why this race is going to be close but to share them wouldn't be helpful...

We just need to win this election because McCain-Palin would make the Bush-Cheney years look like the wonder years...

This is arguably the most reactionary ticket since Hitler turned the Reichstag on fire...

16. I agree, if the republican ticket gets in
We have not only a man who is being held hostage by the neo cons (maverick my aunt louise! that is rove is there ever was, trying to defeat us with our own message) and Palin who is a reactionary, fundamentalist who wants to set up a Christian taliban.

And I say that as a committed Christian. Look closely at what she embraces. Just like Islam and its reactionary Talibans and al qaeda terrorists, have nothing to do with the religion, but how a religion is used to hold a people hostage. (98% of Muslims fear that group more than we do).. We have the same power mad people who try and use Christianity as a power base.

The only reason I focus on Palin for one second, is because of McCains advanced age and his health issues.

We can win this election and we will. Other wise you are right about the Hitler comparison. The nazis were only 10% of the german population, but they rode that 90% through fear and intimidation into a nightmare.

In 2007,,early last year, did you honestly think Obama had a chance?..Who knows what the voters will do?

I watch baseball sometimes. In the National League, the pitcher bats? ( To be honest.. haven't watched in a long while..) Every once and a while the pitcher gets an important hit that wins the game. Who knows?

Considering the Democrats haven't been on the right side of a popular and Electoral College vote landslide in forty four years I, unfortunately, am not confident this year will be different...

8. We need to stop attacking Palin
By the time the debate comes all she will have to do is stand up and breathe and the media will say she crushed Biden. We better focus totally on the economy.

7. Bookmark this thread because I'm going to tell you what's going to happen
They will continue to hold her away from the media and there will be a big furor over her not answering any questions. Then there will be a much anticipated first and exclusive interview on FOX or some other very friendly venue. Every American will be tuned in to see how she does and she'll nail every, previously screened, question like a pro and the American sheep will buy into it and once again we'll be set back on our heels as we try to explain away that it wasn't a *real* interview, blah, blah, blah....

20. The economy is bad enough to tilt things in our favor
but only by a thin margin. People are sufficiently driven by enotional and cultural factors to deny us anything close to resembling a landslide.

14. In all recent previous elections economy was not as bad as now. we are sailing in unchartered
waters. McSame with the same playbook is in danger. So he is trying to steal Barack's ideas and even using the same sentences. But he should know that reading from a piece of paper will not work for him.

15. Remember this...the media needs to make it look close..
Edited on Sun Sep-07-08 07:28 AM by Stuart G
..The combined media needs to make it seem like it will be close. We are talking about hundreds of millions of dollars in easy profits from advertising.
.. That close view will remain till the last week or two. Perhaps up to the last minute. Some places may predict something else. But you will not get that from most pundits and media people.

19.  I was so sure that in 2006 we couldn't win the Senate...as were most..
Yet, the people in this country made the correct decision.. Missouri, Montana, Virgina, one after another change happened.
It is our time...and in the end, most people will make the correct decision. I think that this one will make itself clear in a way that only happened once before.in 1932.

This thread has me thinking about the worst, if Obama loses. I think it might be all over for our country. I really believe that. I wish there was more I could do than donate money but I'm overseas. If McCain wins I think I'm going to apply for citizenship here. It's tragic to me to be even thinking about that.
