So the press does their job for a week....
..and reports almost everything negative about Palin and McCain's crass selection of her, and her scandals and her lack of experience and her wacky world views, and their convention is lackluster and/or full of negativity and bile which is shown in all it's bare fanged glor.

And they still manage to get a bounce. And her favorabilities still manage to rise and be high enough that this is within their grasp.

So now that the press is and will go back to being cowered and bullied and made to feel guilty and bad, and pretty much most of the negative stuff with Palin has been reported, is there any reason to believe it will get BETTER? And that people will be MORE informed with the press going back to their old ways?

Please, someone convince me because I'm feeling particularly worried lately. I mean like up in the middle of the night worried.

1. I was where you were a few days ago but I've since calmed down after seeing the ABC poll about
Biden having more of an impact than Palin. Her base is excited about her. Big fucking deal. I see so many people (moderate to lefties) more fired up and ready to get to work than ever before. We are gonna win this thing, but we gotta work for it!

2. As an Obama campaign volunteer
I'm encouraged by the sheer numbers of people who want to volunteer. May I suggest you venture down to your local campaign office and ask how you can help out? It does a lot for the anxiety level. :)

3. Palin is only preaching to the choir.
They're giving her a great big Halleluja, but if you're not in the church yourself, you can barely hear them.

5. I was there a few nights ago and then I relized, I have been on TV when I was younger
Edited on Sun Sep-07-08 08:28 AM by Boz
and they said I was a great guy, (was for volunteer work I was doing) and I was amazed at how the reporting WAS NOTHING LIKE WHAT WAS HAPPENING, WHY I WAS THERE or WHO I WAS.

And then I realized again TV is a story that needs to be told whether its real or not.

And then I realized thee is no way in hell they are reporting McCain right(like they matched Obama record speech viwership) which means the reality is different and in our favor.

And that means TV is not where this fight is, McCain knows it thats why they are telling TV to F off they don't need them and neither do we.

What we do need is people. WE THE PEOPLE to show the People that Obama and Joe are The People too.

I know we have that covered, I have seen those people, I have seen the people convincing their friends and family, one at a Time
that were going to be ok because there is these two guys and they are the smartest MFers in the room and they really do believe WE ARE THE PEOPLE and WE THE PEOPLE are going to let them have what they need to help those that need it.

Hey VI, screw Mass Communication and the TV, WE THE PEOPLE, you and I and some of our millions of fiends and families are going to change it back to the USA

Its ok to be afraid, they have hurt us for years, but we have our backs because the U and the S in the United States is US, the people that know Obama and Joe are the answer to our future. We are the ones we have been waiting for and we will work together to make it happen. Give your local Obama office a call, get away from the TV, and get together with The People.

It will do you wonders to see the real world.

6. The TV media did 1 day and 1 night - not a week.
And they are back to business as usual.

The print media is actually staying with the story and have been on it since the VP pick was announced. I think that the most important thing at the moment is to look "local" (as mentioned by other posters). If you can't volunteer then spread the CORRECT info to family, friends, neighbors, and co-workers.

As a side-note, I have the TV on checking out the local news and they showed a helicopter view of thousands and thousands of Philadelphians down at the Linc (this is 9-something in the morning) setting up to tailgate and BBQ ahead of the first Eagles game of the season to be played today. I.e., they are about to tune out from politics for a few hours and root for the home team. If anything, that is one perspective to consider - that most people are going about their lives and only cursorily will delve into the politics of this election.
