1. As I said in the other two threads this morning on this--typical convention bump and
it's not like McCain and Obama haven't been tied before on the Rasmussen poll. They had there convention and they got a boost, just as we did temporarily. The boost will, like ours, eventually begin to fade. McCain may even be a point or two ahead tomorrow, it's really not anything to be overly concerned about at this point following a convention.

2. I keep telling myself such comforting things
But those graphs can't help but worry me.

The electoral vote estimates are comforting, though.

6. I'm not telling myself comforting things. I'm going by historical fact
every convention provides usually a short-lived bump. If you live daily by the polls, especially daily tracking polls then you are going to have days of anxiety.

3. If all McCain can get is a point or two ahead..
at this point in the year - his highest days of polling all year long - then it'll be McCain's team who will have reason to be worried.

7. I will get attacked for this....
but many people here put positive spins on poll numbers when they are not good for Obama...enough of that...I remember we did the same thing in 2004.

The fact is the numbers do not look for Obama nationally...McCain will probably have a small lead tomorrow...can you believe it...McCain with a lead with all the problems the country has right now because of the repub party? So, I too am worried. Yes, I will go out and try to get as many votes for Obama as I can but when you look at the polls McCain should not be tied with Obama even after McCain's convention. And if you say after the debates Obama will open up a lead...well, that is what we said in 2004. The media will spin the post debate analysis...especially the Sara "no expectations" Palin and Biden debate.

The repugs attack, play hardball and we Dems have to be careful not to attack because we may look bad, especially attacking a woman...this will not get us anywhere but another 4 years at least with McCain and repubs trashing the constitution, endless wars, lost jobs, etc...

8. Obama's run a poor campaign
He's been a softie. He didn't learn anything from Kerry and Gore. I like him personally and think a McCain Presidency would be horrible for the world and will do everything I can to help Sen Obama. But his campaign is very disappointing to me.

10. Agree...
it seems like we are scared to attack and go after our opponent and the repubs dont give a shit, they just attack and attack and go up in the polls and win presidential elections....

12. Obama has been a wimp so far.
A little tougher than Kerry, but it's not enough. He only started to fight after McCain gave him a beating for a couple of weeks. They kick our ass, we take it. It's sad to watch.

Best to do it now while she is hiding from the press!

9. THAT'S FUCKING AWESOME
McCain should have been in the lead today!

Four days = Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday.

He should have been at the very least, 2 points in the lead!

14. He'll be ahead in today's Gallup and in both
tomorrow.

But people will continue to insist that the Obama campaign is doing everything right.

13. Funny how those of us who predicted that he'd be ahead
by Monday were called all kinds of names.

Face it folks: McCain's people know how to win a general election. Barack's don't--they're stuck in Dukakis territory where they don't go after the other guy's character.

Which averages three days, as I remember, so that might be more telling.

18. He'll be behind by 2-3 points in Gallup today.
In short, McCain's convention kicked our ass.

29. Good prediction. McCain is 3 pts ahead in Gallup.
I don't understand your remark about the conventions, though. The Republican one was lame, and McCain's speech was awful.

17. Good stuff, bad stuff
Once the McCain bounce fades, Obama will take the lead again. It's discouraging that the overall polling remains so close. But electorally, we're still looking strong. I have a very difficult time seeing ways for McCain to get enough EV's.

Also somewhat disturbing in the Rasmussen poll is that McCain has halved Obama's lead among women voters to 7%. Presumably that's also convention bounce.

20. Not bad
McCain's never been 6 points ahead in Rasmussen and 9 points ahead in Gallup. If all he can do is get it to where it was before, I don't consider the Repuke convention as a plus. They gambled on Palin because they KNEW they were in trouble.

22. seeking understanding here....
I saw this graph in a thread yesterday...

I know that it is dealing with electoral vote projection...
and the polls deal with asking voters in polls...

which form of speculation is more accurate in predicting the winner?

23. It's only polls, it's a campaign bounce....but it still disgusts me
That 80% of this country thinks the republican party has driven this country into the ground, taken us down the wrong path, and lied to us, and doesn't represent the majority of our values....and we still don't have over 50% support consistently and in every poll.

Americans...Wake Up!....For all our sakes, wake the fuck up!

26. I simply don't believe this...sorry...
not from what I am reading on other sites...Palin has energized the voters against McCain, not for him...the msm, has to keep us believing it's even, so it can be stolen w/o questions...that's my opinion, and I'll stick to it...wb

Lots of peoplke apparently love Palin and see McCain as a moderate engine of change.

28. one time I was in a group with a professional poll taker
who told us...that ALL polls ARE manipulated...so I absolutely do NOT pay any attention to any of them...my only fear about these poll numbers being reported as they are by our friend the MSM...is that we are being set up to lose this election by theft, once again...it has to be perceived as a close situation, in order for their tracks to be covered..IS anyone going to try to convince me, that with the way this woman has alienated large groups of voters, such as Catholics, and animal protectors...and while considering the last 8 years, and the condition of this country's economy at the present time, that we are actually going to elect another REPUBLICAN?????.....especially considering that we DID NOT ELECT BUSH in 2000...and there is evidence that WE DID NOT ELECT BUSH in 2004....considering the damage he's done, and the state of this nation right now, why would we elect the doddering old fool McCain, and his male wannabe partner???I can't and won't allow myself to believe that we Americans have become quite that stupid, just yet...wb
