The McCain campaign and their supporters are purging voters in key battleground states. We need to work to register voters. Can you help?

The McCain campaign and their supporters spreading ridiculous lies and propaganda to sway the undecideds. Can you spend some time on the phones or writing letters? How about a quick, well thought-out letter to the editor? Only takes a minute.

I can't afford to let them win the presidency again. I'm fighting this time.

Are you ready to fight??

Let's win this election!!!!!

If you've got good ideas, links, anything helpful, post 'em here. It's time to win.

5. Thanks
You've confirmed something I can do.

I live in Texas and am not really able to travel. I'm not a phone person, but I was thinking about writing letters to papers in swing states.

I think you're post put me over the line. I'm doing it this week.

My wife and I try to send Obama some cash from time to time when budgets allow. Everytime we cut back on something we consider it will go to the Obama fund.

This will not be an easy race. I'm in!

11. all good ideas, thanks rene!
I need to find some links to letter-writing campaigns. We did that for the Kerry campaign, to women voters in swing states who hadn't voted recently.

12. Signed up on barackobama.com for phone calling AND on Women Vote Project
...for letter-writing.

There are 26,000 women in my area who are registered to vote - but don't for some reason. I'm writing letters to them to get them to VOTE!

16. I've been pondering an "action" for a few days...
when this idea first came to me, I thought..."that's a good idea...but we really should be putting the focus on McCain and marginalizing Palin." but then she started using the "community organizer" line in every single speech...and we're starting to see anecdotal responses that it both energizes their base and really doesn't play well with common Americans. I think we should give it another week or so, so that she really gets herself tied to it in an inescapable manner, then turn it on her with this idea.

Find municipal executives (mayors, selectmen, aldermen, county commissioners, etc.) who started as or have backgrounds in community organizing (I personally know three...but they are all in CT...we need them in swing locations.) to write LTTEs talking about how the talking point offends them, discussing the great responsibility of the job and what it is that community organizers do...always coming back to the point that Sarah Palin isn't (skilled/talented/smart/...) enough to do the job of a community organizer or that being the mayor of Wassilla isn't even comparable to being an organizer.

It both takes away a talking point of the McCain campaign and vocalizes the feelings of the vast majority of Americans.

19. I'm awaiting word on volunteer info for the Dallas office
And will email my House district leader to learn about canvassing. I cannot just sit and complain anymore. I don't know if my efforts will succeed, this being Texas, but I have to try.

we need HELP! there are people who have taken time off work to do this full time and they can use our help!

a friend of mine is taking a vacation (unpaid) week to leave LA and go into a swing state to talk to voters.

We need phone calls to the midwest and swing states, too -- something people from liberal areas can do to pitch in without leaving home:-)

I get tired out there...but then I think, what if...and I didn't....

so out I go again.

Husband, friends, family very irritated with me because I am obsessed with this campaign and no time for anything else between work and volunteering and writing letters (and reading DU, taking refuge among my own kind).

I am trying to follow in your footsteps. I am currently only working part time, so I have time to give. I'm currently scheduled for one day a week at the local Obama HQ, but should start letter writing at home too.

24. thanks..that was nice to hear- back at you!
I thought I was signing up for one day, too:-) don't be surprised if you feel compelled to go in more often as the frazzled full timers stare at you with glazed eyes you can't refuse. Of course, I'm in an area of high need.

The campaign is lucky to have you on board! I'm sure you will enjoy the work -- I've met some great people.
