poll showing Obama twenty points ahead, would still be telling us all how much better off we'd been with a candidate who lost the Democratic nomination. They are the bitter dead-enders, and the few that are left here gin up courage over at another site and then charge over here to disrupt.

But I can understand your confusion; it does seem a bit out of sorts. Hope my explanation helps.

Unless you think the 2012 election will be uncontested, it's obvious that someone will run against Obama. Not sure I'd like to start predicting who just yet, though.

She'll have 4 years to establish herself as THE star of the Republican Party. A darling of the religious right. After President Obama and Vice President Biden take office 01/20/09, we will not have seen the last of her.

If she can't figure out a way to propell McCain to a win this election, i'm not sure how she'd be able to do it all alone in 2012 (or '16). Plus, with 4 - 8 more years to vet her, and clean out all of the moose skulls in her closet, she might not be so bright & shiney.

Right now she's a novelty.. and I think she'll wear thin in a few years. Plus, as people age there seem to be fewer and fewer bible thumping fundies to support her.. people get more accepting of gays, abortion, etc. every year. In 4 - 8 more years she probably won't look so great. Just my guesses.

19. Romney is itching for the job and I expect him to be well-positioned, but

only for the nomination.

I think Palin will be blamed as one component of McCain's defeat and will be out of the running.

Huckabee I think is more likely to give it another try than not, but I think he's too provincial still for a national win.

The Republicans may find themselves in worse shape for a slate of primary candidates in 2012 than they did this time.

I think a President Obama wins two terms.
