Ummm, folks? This "Drill Baby Drill" stuff is going to sound really stupid in a few weeks.
Every time they show a McCain/Palin rally, the knuckle-draggers start in on their gleeful "DRILL, BABY, DRILL!" chants and I just smile and smile and laugh.

I'm tellin' ya, it might sound cute and gimmicky right now, but America is going to have a "WTF" moment, sooner rather than later watching this display.

Count on it. Oh, and get to work. :-)

6. well, they do still have to pay the rig crew and the geologist and the mudlogger
and so on even if it is a dry hole. :evilgrin: :evilgrin: :evilgrin:
good for MY pocketbook, since my husband is a wellsite geologist.

The investors in the project pay for the dry hole. Sometimes that is a bunch of individuals sometimes it is Big Oil.

So you buy your 1/2 of 1/32nd of the project and you get 1/2 of 1/32nd of the take if it is productive. If it is dry, you get an expense to offset the income you have to claim on your productive wells or an investment loss for tax purposes.

12. Yup, thought as much....drilling for hard to recover wells often mean much higher investment
and in this high value market...it makes sense to drill where there is oil but ...deeper, harder, riskier....therefor oil will be sold to recover the high costs...meaning by the time it reaches the market...it might have the same price we paying now...if not higher...

16. oh and this: Alaska's oil does not come down here. It is sold to Japan mostly
and possibly Korea; maybe China

It is not the correct grade to meet our requirements.

Sweet light crude, it isn't.

Having more of it on the market only makes money to buy the good stuff elsewhere or produce more in the lower 48 where the oil is of a better grade/

3. yes, start with double ententre and work your way up. Not to mention it is going to get really OLD
really really fast.

Drill, Baby Drill is what they say up on the oil rigs when they want to get the damn well over with already....so they don't have to change out the drill bits which slows down the process.

I had just gotten on my last nerve over that particular word. You were just a target of opportunity.

I am a lunatic 1st amendment absolutist, not a censor. My frustration was with the inconsistency of speech codes where they exist... it feels like women get the short end on the deal. It was a frustration developed during the primaries when Hillary was casually called things in cases where it wouldn't cross anyone's mind to use equivalent terms about Obama.


You were about 800th on a sensible list of targets.

I mean, it's like a freak show. And the longer it goes on, at every single campaign rally, it sounds more and more ridiculous.

I think after the novelty of Product Palin wears off, America is going to reject this kind of moronic shit and start wondering what exactly that means.

Or one of those mind-control things where a roomful of zombified drones speak in unison. What you are seeing is the result of a group mentality. There is no need for what they chant to make the tiniest amount of sense to provide cohesion for that group.

I say keep it up. Hopefully, the enlightened minority will see how idiotic these people are.

Anyone who thinks 2004 = 2008 wasn't paying attention in 2006.

McCain thinks we're stupid, that's for sure. But I really don't think we are.

More Americans watched the conventions than watched the finale of American Idol. People are tuned in.
