DU'ers: My Group in FL needs your Help with a Registration/Voting Drive
Sooo.....a few of my friends and I are an un-affiliated, PROBama group here. We all decided one night to "tack" our voters registration cards up on our walls @ our own houses right after we heard McCain's Convention speech.

Well, one of my friends suggested that we should do more with our idea. Tell more people about it, or even tell our local campaign headquarters or social venues. There are 7 of us, and we know exactly where our voters registration cards will be during the time to vote(I always vote early).

We're in the planning stages, and one of my friends came up with "A Tack," (meaning "Attack" the vote). One person said that it sounds a little too aggressive, but the person who suggested the name said that it could literally mean, "Attack the bad economy, attack foreclosures, attack the idea of four more years of the current administration."

As I sit here typing, I'm looking up @ my card "tacked" to the wall, but I don't know if "attack(A Tack)" would be the best name.

Suggestions? Thanks.

1. "TAC'Kle"; Tack'le waste, Tack'le stupidity, Tack'le the economy?
Though I think atTACK is just fine.

3. I am worried that your cards might be stolen or that private information from the cards
might be used by someone who shouldn't have it...? Are either of those possibilities? Maybe not. I worry a lot.

I LOVE the idea of letting people know that you are registered to vote -- a little positive peer pressure for the people in your neighborhood. It would be even better if your group would find direct ways to make sure your neighbors are registered.

Have you considered participating in the Obama campaign Neighbor-To-Neighbor program? They need neighbors to register neighbors and make sure they get to the polls...

4. Yeah, ....
....we considered the exposure of information, but we aren't going to be dealing with the actual cards, specifically.

I know it might sound corny, but we were actually going to simply deal with the tacks. We are encouraging everybody to get a registration card, and tack it up on their walls so that the cards will be readily available when it's time to vote.

I've considered the n2n program, and it's a fine one when it's executed well, but my schedule doesn't allow me to sustain it. Everybody in my neighborhood is registered, though.

5. The fact that everyone in your neighborhood is registered - that is the most important part.
Thank you for everything you can do -- if everyone does a little it adds up!
