Just ending: AK governor's debate on CSPAN repeats at 1230EST
repeats at 1230EST I think.

If you haven't seen this you should. Palin has a great deal of poise and covers her lack of knowledge extremely well.

Obama campaign is playing this right; forget challenging her on competence. Instead, make it clear she is more Bush than McBush.

1. Yes, she won't be a pushover by any means.

Of course those two clowns she was debating were not exactly Joe Biden caliber. And the questions were not at all like what she will have to handle in the VP debate.

2. I thought...
...her answers were vapid. She was very telegenic, far more so than the others. But she came off as a standard pandering politician.

I was prepared for some real command of the issues after what I have read. I was surprised at how empty headed she was.

4. I agree.

But did you notice her memes? For example, even though it would require a constitutional amendment, she kept repeating that on using the oil fund for a pipeline, she would "bring it to the people for a vote".

Pandering, yes. Effective pandering though.

7. Agreed. She was always looking into the camera.
Obviously she had the situation very well scoped out.

3. They've already neutralized the media
All she needs to do is not trip over her own feet and she'll be acclaimed the winner by Fox and all her fundie friends.

So I don't think the debate is going to be that significant.

6. Yes, Obama's campaign is handling it right
and linking, or likening, her to Bush was exactly what he did in the interview with Stephanopoulos . He's using the right line of attack.
