11. The Keating Five
McCain and Keating had become personal friends following their initial contacts in 1981.<8> Between 1982 and 1987, McCain had received $112,000 in political contributions from Keating and his associates.<14> In addition, McCain's wife Cindy McCain and her father Jim Hensley had invested $359,100 in a Keating shopping center in April 1986, a year before McCain met with the regulators. McCain, his family, and their baby-sitter had made nine trips at Keating's expense, sometimes aboard Keating's jet. Three of the trips were made during vacations to Keating's opulent Bahamas retreat at Cat Cay. McCain did not pay Keating (in the amount of $13,433) for some of the trips until years after they were taken, when he learned that Keating was in trouble over Lincoln.<6><15>

4. I think the question is: will the MEDIA remember them
Don't make a bit of difference if we remember them....well maybe a bit, if we remind people about it.

7. Not really. I've always heard of the Keating 5, but must have forgotten what they did.
I wonder how long it will take before someone asks the right questions? I would think any inquiries might set McGoo off...which we're all waiting to see happen, right?

9. Well, I know that McCain was one of the 5, but who were the other 4
and is that why maybe the Democratic leadership doesn't make more noise about the scandal.

10. Imagine if Obama had been involved in a scandal like the Keating Five 20 years ago
Imagine what the Democrats would say if John McCain had been in the Keating Five 20 years ago.

Wait a minute.

Hey, why aren't the Democrats being as aggressive as the Republicans would if the shoe was on the other foot?

Answer: Because the Democrats want to lose. They're losers.

I'm tired of waiting for the Democrats to ever fight back, ever wake up, ever wise-up.

12. If Obama does not use this in a Lavish Intensely Media covered Ad against McCain...
Edited on Mon Sep-08-08 04:46 AM by quantass
then this would be the ultimate piss off for me. All this quality stuff against McCain-Palin (truckloads) and never used is just silly. The campaign has begun now that the conventions have finished...now we shall see where those hundreds of millions to Obama's campaign is going.

I have a lot of faith in Obama et al! They always surprise me.

14. Thank you.
I thought I'd read recently that McCain's son was involved in a scandal similar to his own.

DNC - perhaps this should be out on the airwaves?????

15. Yes, I most certainly do. John McCain was involved in that, big time.
I do not care to put in the Oval Office someone who was in the middle of that scandal.
