Please, prepare yourself because Palin will not flub from script...
The great thing about Biden is I think when the two debate, he will not let her get away from answering questions, because I have a feeling Palin is going to stay on message very, very well. I believe she will remain very polished and in control and the only way to get her choke will be to get her off message and surprise her.

1. I think you may be surprised when the debates come as I've seen
her flub on wayyy more than one occasion without a teleprompter! Remember she's just coming on board & has some different views than McCain. Plenty to work with. I just wish the VP's were doing a town hall!

2. I've seen Palin in two media interviews...
Edited on Mon Sep-08-08 12:20 AM by TwoSparkles
...and she comes off VERY well. Almost too well. She's very articulate and
comes off as very affable and knowledgeable.

She was on CNBC, interviewed by Kudlow. She was also on Glenn Beck. In both interviews,
she talked about Alaska drilling and the need to explore the oil/gas reserves in her state.

It was obvious that she had memorized lines. Her answers in both interviews were identical and
it is obvious that she was working off a script of several lines.

Granted, the interviewers are right-wing hacks, so they weren't going to challenge her.

However--she does VERY well when she's got her lines memorized and the interviewer doesn't stray
from the script she has in her head.

If she does memorize lines, and if the interviewers stick to the script--we need to prepare for her
to do very well.

That's why I think people need to stop calling for her to come out of the shadows. Let people notice
her absence, without us chiding her to come out. Because she will come out eventually, and she
will probably do well.

The debates are another issue. I don't see how she pulls off 90 minutes, unless the entire process is
rigged.

3. And remember....
during the last debates there was a sort of rule about how no one could confront or ask the other questions.

4. Scripted talking points only survive until there's a follow up question.
That's why Repubs consider media as "hostile" when they do their jobs.
I can declare Buxh to be an economic wiz, a military genius, and a diplomatic saint... until the claim is questioned.

Unfortunately, I've seen them get away with such statements.

5. I agree she'll do well. She doesn't seem to have any self-doubt. She's sure she's on Jesus' side
and I don't think she's in to introspection. Vapid, undeserved self-confidence will serve her well.

I think she's already won the debate.

6. She may be able to stay on message but don't forget the message is fucked up.
I can't wait until America gets a load of Her Fundiness. Her views on global warming, creationism, book-banning, "life," etc. x 1,000 will make heads spin.

I imagine all those Beauty Pageant Questions - where they have scripted answers for everything.

Well unless it's about geography.

oh and World Peace! :D

8. She will do great in a debate
Don't kid yourself.

Did you watch Biden yesterday? He was great but the average voter's attention span is no better than my 4 year old nephew's. He may give a 10 minute answer to a complicated question like "What to do in Iraq?" and I have no doubts it will be a smart, nuanced one. He'll show himself like a true statesman. Then Palin will answer with just 3 words "Win the war". That's it. Guess who will be declared a winner in the debate...
