Pitbull Owners Blast Palin
Pitbull Owners Blast Palin

Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, who famously compared herself to a pitbull in her vice-presidential acceptance speech at the Republican National Convention, appears to have antagonized a key voting bloc in the upcoming election, the nation's pitbull owners.

While Gov. Palin's assertion that the only difference between a hockey mom and a pitbull was "lipstick" drew a loud ovation from the Republican faithful in St. Paul, it raised the ire of the Pitbull Anti-Defamation League, a powerful association of pitbull fanciers who monitor the portrayal of pitbulls in the media.

"As someone who has owned pitbulls for the past twenty years, my jaw dropped," said Carol Foyler, the group's executive director. "Most of us are thinking the same thing: enough is enough."

Ms. Foyler said that for pitbull owners who have grown weary of their prized dogs being defamed and mistreated, Gov. Palin's wisecrack was the last straw: "We're all like, first the Michael Vick thing, and now this."

1. It's official! She's offended everyone but braindead Repugs.
Keep her talking. Maybe even they will come to their senses.

2. Good. There is a significant voting block that will not be on her side..
;-)

Now all she had to do is start putting down kitties and German Shepherds, and we will have this election locked up.. :7

7. She'd have probably pissed off the fundie nuts, if she wasn't on a leash
The people that like her are redneck dudes.

I don't mean country or rural dudes. I do mean rednecks. The type that rail on about "niggers" and "jews" all day and have met and certainly know neither.

She might also have some support from what we refer to as "Squirrel eating chicks".

11. Yep. I have some friends who get REALLY mad when Pit Bulls are slandered.
I bet between the pit bull slander and the shooting of wolves, elk, mooses and other creatures, animal lovers in general really shouldn't like this woman.

Look at that sweet face... and she just perpetuated the stereotype that they're mean. She's so disgusting. :(

15. Last Friday night..on NatlGeographic channel there were 2 shows
that showed, and discussed the unjustified maligning of Pit Bulls.
The "Dog Whisperer" and a 2 hour segment of "Dog Town" which is part of Best Friends Sanctuary in Utah.
Best Friends took 22 of the Michael Vick Pit Bulls and it showed how they were trained and rehabilitated to become loving, adoptable pets.
They also explained that it was their intelligence and willingness to please that made them such desirable targets for the dog fighting underground. It was horrendous what was done to those dogs to make them ready to fight...and it was just as bad to see what was done to them if they lost...or got too old or sick to fight.
Even the winners were horribly scarred.

It was wonderful to see how much was done to help these dogs. They turned out to be wonderful, loving dogs..even one that was judged to be so far gone that it was supposed to stay at Best Friends for its entire life and never be adopted. She became a wonderful dog. They all became capable of passing the canine good citizens test.

I've had the privilege of working with Best Friends after Katrina hit. They're
really a great group.

31. Aww, doggies...
I feel so bad for pit bulls. My friend had one that was so sweet and I feel awful when I hear stories about people breeding them to fight. It's just so inhumane. How do people live with themselves?

I'm glad there's a place like that to help them out and beyond the cruel training they received as pups.

5. Palin/McCain are for those who have no lives
Edited on Mon Sep-08-08 12:28 AM by djohnson
Yeah, basically anyone who cares about anything would be offended at some point by Palin or McCain.

The problem is there is a voting block of people who have NO LIVES and who are bitter about it, and they rejoice in the Palin/McCain campaign against humanity's interests.

Even with all of the truly scummy politicians out there, there's been more dirt dug up on Goodie Sarah in the past week than most politicians could be tarred with if you had a year to delve into their past.

12. I said in a post the other day
I'd like to write a book on her being chosen for VP. I'm fascinated on the way it came about. I'd like to see after the election, especially if they lose, how the choice will be viewed. It'll either be the dumbest move ever or a brilliant pick. I'm leaning towards the dumbest, but you never totally know.

I would love to get an embittered Mitt Romney on record, wondering how the hell he was passed over for basically his stupid female equivalent, lol.

14. Consider the first copy of that book to have been ordered ...
... by me, right now.

It really would be fascinating stuff, wouldn't it?

Were I Romney or Huckabee, I would have been way too pissed off to speak at the Convention - how humiliating to have been passed over in favour of a scandal-ridden, target-of-current-investigation, totally inexperienced know-nothing!

17. oh I know
Especially Romney I think. He wanted it bad and he's such an ambitious person, he seethes with the hope of being president one day. Mitt is interesting himself, he was an outstanding student unlike the McCains, Bushes, and Palins of the world. I bet he just looks at a guy like McCain, who fumbles around and can't even remember the most Basic 101 policy concepts, and wonders how the hell he lost to that guy. I like Huckabee in many ways. He's an engaging guy, excellent personality and has some appeal. But the 'Pubs only use that religion and hick stuff to exploit for political purposes. Huck is too much of a squirrel eatin' Jesus Freak for the GOP elitists tastes. They flipped out when he won Iowa.

I just need to find a ghostwriter, so we'll see, lol.

30. He let a serial rapist go free in Arkansas

and he raped and murdered a woman. This, after several of his victims
pleaded with Huckabee not to set him free.

He also said some sickening things at the RNC convention. While he comes
off as a nice guy, he really is not (at all).

Pitbulls can be the sweetest creatures on the face of the earth, if they are raised with love and kindness.

Obviously, Sarah wasn't.
