Dear Friend,
The White House is supposed to be sacred ground, a symbol of
American pride and power -- not a tool for divisive
politics.
But earlier this week, George W. Bush stood in the White
House, where our greatest presidents, Abraham Lincoln,
Franklin D. Roosevelt, and John F. Kennedy have stood, and
gave a blatantly political speech to the Republican National
Convention. President Bush attacked his political opponents
and called for four more years of his own disastrous
policies.
That's four more years our nation simply cannot afford, and
it's up to all of us to make sure that doesn't happen.
I made the trip out to Denver for the Democratic National
Convention last week because I am committed to doing all I
can to elect Barack Obama as President and to build him a
stronger Democratic majority in Congress, so we can begin
moving our nation toward a brighter future.
But I can't do it alone. Please join me in this fight, and
help provide critical support to Democratic candidates for
the Senate. Make a contribution to the Committee for a
Democratic Majority:
http://www.democraticmajority.com/conventionSpeaker after speaker this week took to the podium to mock
the vast majority of Americans who are so audacious as to
believe they have the right to demand change. President Bush
dismissed us as "the angry left."
But the American people have good reason to be angry.
They've seen the effect of an economic policy that favors
big corporations and the wealthiest Americans, leaving the
middle class to fend for themselves.
They've seen the effect of a belligerent foreign policy that
stretches our military to the breaking point and squanders
our nation's moral standing.
And they've seen what happens when our leaders govern with
fear and ideology, putting politics above what is best for
our country.
The election in November gives all of us hope that we can
turn this country around. By electing Barack Obama and
strengthening our majorities in the House and Senate, we can
break through Republican obstructionism and pass legislation
that invests in jobs, education, and health care for all.
Do your part to bring the change this country needs:

and more important.
Every day, another worker loses his job, another single mom
loses her health insurance, and another house is in
foreclosure. Every day our children are missing out on
crucial educational opportunities, and our troops remain in
harm's way in Iraq.
On Election Day the American people will choose between more
of the same and a new direction for our country.
Join me in making sure we make the right choice:

Senator Edward M. Kennedy
