Question about defining Palin
During this strange "Palin media blackout" is Obama missing his chance to move in and define her?

Nate has a great article this morning on fivethirtyeight.com and that article coupled with a conversation I had yesterday prompted me to ask DU because 1) I genuinely don't know and 2) he may already be working on it and I just didn't know.

Any help from DU would be greatly appreciated! And let me say that I am a fan of Obama's campaign thus far, I am not worried about a McCain convention bounce, and I do not think the sky is falling :) I don't want anyone here to think I'm overly worried about nothing or just trolling in general.

1. The Republicans defined Kerry early and effectively
Our side is afraid to go on the attack.

They should be spending a lot of money right now undermining Palin with advertising and talking points before people make up their minds.

People are forming their opinions of her right now and those will be hard to change.

The Obama campaign seems to be reactionary and so far they are not good at getting out in front of the Republicans.

2. What's the difference between really working Palen over,
possibly losing by 3, and tiptoeing like the last week and losing by 10?

I don't want to look back after the election and think maybe we should have defined her a little better.

4. Better to go down fighting than go down like a wimp
When Democrats are wimpy they lose elections and they make the party look weak and uncool. If Obama loses, he should lose throwing punches. Politics is a contact sport - time for Obama's campaign to make some contact with McCain/Palin.

3. So is anything being done?
Again, I'm asking because I don't know. There may be tonnes of commercials running locally and I just haven't heard about it.

5. I said after the V.P. announcement that there was little time to DEFINE her and was hammered
on this board.

Now the task has become very difficult, perhaps not worth the effort, since the Repugs have had a successfull intro of their new "product."

A usefull campaign would be focused, based on solid analysis and facts. McCain's judgment in picking Palin would be brought into doubt.

The issue is not Palin, but McCain. However, if they make Palin into a masterstroke of genius, McCain wins, we LOSE.

God help us.
