Is it a matter of hard wiring? Conservatives/Republicans hard wired to fight dirty,
lie, twist, spin, do whatever it is to either be authoritative or submit to their authorities. Black and white thinkers, all or nothing, with us or against us. Science is bad, religion is not only good, but is the only thing.

Liberals/Democrats hard wired to think, reason, live in the gray, use logic, prefers peaceful solutions, will fight but as a last resort. Far prefer to tell the truth.

It is culture, folks.

1. Yes. Republican voters have authoritarian personalities.
Edited on Mon Sep-08-08 08:49 AM by sparosnare
They blindly follow authoritarian leaders to their own detriment. They WANT to take orders; they want security and conformity; they resist change because they are afraid of it. They also tend to be very rigid in their thoughts and rely heavily on superstition, religion.

Republicans like Rove know this and exploit it; it's why Limbaugh is so popular.

2. Undecided voters respond to negative ads and dirty politics
Democrats better learn to fight as mean as Republicans or we will never win the White House again.

3. The GOP is the Mean party, conservatism is the Mean ideology--
I got mine, fuck you, keep the flow of money moving ever upward, Jaysus loves us more. It's no wonder they get rewarded for open nastiness and cynicism--people expect that. I have to be Zen-like and think, "Well, if America didn't get enough abuse at the hands of Republicans even after 8 years, then they must like being shat on"--that's the way it goes.

9. True--we ALL suffer. Myself, I am terrified of McLoonie, because
he will make dumbass and dangerous decisions that will send my husband off on more deployments. He's a fucking warpig who can't wait to get his hands on the already-strained military and push it to the breaking point, along with military families like mine. But, we all only have so much control over the turn of events, so it's healthier to remind ourselves that maybe we Dems really ARE a minority, maybe people really LIKE the way things are now, maybe people like the idea of having an angry senile geezer for President, and woman that no one knows (except that she bore children and shoots animals) a heartbeat away.

5. I don't know if you can generalize ...
but, I think for some, they adhere to an "Ends justify the means" philosophy, provided it doesn't kill unborn babies.

6. it's bigger than that
The entire human race is defective genetically and is programmed to self destruct. It is currently going about doing that and is about to enter the end stages.

Republicans are the most efficient at destruction; Democrats less so.

7. Your Conservative has no regard for human life, not even his own
He may come individually, or he may come in strength. He may come in the uniform of our own troops.

Trust no one, whatever his rank, who is not known to you personally.

10. I agree that we are hard wired in ways that oblige us in that way.
I just can't help leaning left and I am certain that those on the right have the same thoughts on leaning right.

11. I get the biggest kick out of the ones which try to claim that "conservatives" were the ones
who would have revolted against King George's rule in 1776 ...

when they would have been the ones with the most to lose to the revocation of "status quo" ... all the titles, all the land, all the perks of English rule, they would lose if the colonies broke away ...

12. If by "hard-wired" you mean stupid and evil, yes. But we can fight too . . .
Franklin Roosevelt knew how to fight.

Harry Truman knew how to fight.

John Kennedy knew how to fight.

Lyndon Johnson knew how to fight.

Bill Clinton knew how to fight.

13. or they hard wired to win???? We warned everyone to be prepared
for anything.

The people do not see it as fighting dirty. Believe it or not
they see it as GOP believing in something and have the spine to
stand up and fight.

Until our party understands politics and uses the tools of politics
we will always be saying--what Happened????
