Going by ads, I think NC might actually be in play after all
Being a lifelong NC resident, I figured there was no way that it would go for Obama, even with the polls saying the race was close here.

However, since the conventions, we have been SWAMPED with ads from both the Obama campaign and McCain campaign here. It's how I imagine Ohio and Florida are most election cycles. You can't have a single commercial break in the Raleigh area without seeing these ads.

1. I see way more Obama stickers than McCain.
Hell I see more Ron Paul and Huckabee stickers than McCain, and I have yet to see one for Dole, but I do see Kay Hagan stickers every once in a while. Here's hoping NC goes blue this year.

2. Very interesting
Thanks for posting this.

I haven't seen jack shit out here in California, nor do I expect to.

I feel left out.

3. It's very unusual for NC, looks like we're important for the primary and GE this year
Not sure when the last time was that we double-dipped like that, if ever.

4. Every dollar McCain has to spend in NC can't be spent in Ohio
A win in NC would be nice. It would mean the election was essentially over by 10pm eastern. But I think the real pressure in NC is not for the win, but to make it close enough to bleed McCain in the state.

6. What ads are they playing there?
I know Obama has targeted ads for certain states but I'm just curious what is running in NC...

Their are more but those are the 2 best.

Edited to add that we also get most of Obama's official commercials where he talks about what he is actually going to do. The McCain ads talk about... you guessed it POW.

8. Definately. NC has a voting population of 25% African American.
Who are going to Obama at 97-98%. That means if Obama pulls 27% of the White voters, he will take NC at 51%.

Obama is currently polling at around 37% with White NC voters.
