If anyone had any doubts about the shallowness of the electorate...
The NY Times story should end them.

MSNBC's link to the story has the headline of:

Fusing politics and motherhood in a new way

Palin’s youngest son has had an unexpected effect on her political fortunes

Yes, voters are actually getting swayed by a baby. What an important development in the history of American politics.

Note: for the record, I'm not in the panic camp. I think we're going to win the presidency in November and pick up seats in the House and Senate. I am, however, disturbed that a segment of the population is so easily swayed by completely irrelevant nonsense.

1. then MAYBE the needs of that segment of the population should be addressed, NOT completely ignored?

5. What are the needs of a segment that votes on a President
based on the cuteness of a baby his VP pick has?

8. I don't think I understand your point.

How do you suggest that we address the needs of the voters who select a candidate based on the candidate's infant child?

These aren't exactly issues voters.

2. everyone get a grip
this is getting annoying. They had a convention bounce, they've got a new vp candidate.

We haven't had ONE debate yet. Just wait.

But let's stop talking about Palin....geez.

4. It does not matter, did the media go on about Biden after he was picked? No. The media
subconsciously picks our presidents not the electorate. Get a grip on reality and think about what you are going to do for the next 4 years of Neo-Con rule. I myself will be attempting to start a business to offset the increased cost of living.

6. the debates will answer the questions
and the public will make their final decision.

I'd suggest our guys practice giving shorter direct answers to questions. The long nuanced answer will put the general public to sleep.

But I have no doubt they will do fine...and the issues rather than celebrity will again be highlighted.

3. And this is the New York Times
I want to cancel my subscription. I couldn't read more than the first half dozen paragraphs. What a puff piece - Reader's Digest has more penetrating stories.

9. Anyone with a brain will leave.
Why don't we all just show up in Canada. We'll start a community of ex-patriots. Between us we have the skills to build and feed and care for each other. It's coming folks. Get ready for the Palin inquisition. We'll all be burned at the stake for heresy.
