Will Someone Please PM me when the Frantic Hand-Wringing and Worry Worts Stop Spamming?
Edited on Mon Sep-08-08 09:47 AM by berni_mccoy
Until then, I'm taking a break from this place. In fact, don't expect to see me hanging out here much for the next two months. I have too much to do. I'm going canvassing for Obama and I'm going to go to talk with my neighbors about the election, as Obama has asked us to do.

Instead of spending time here at DU (a place I love), I will instead write LTTE and talk with people who have not yet decided who they are going to vote for. I'm going to spread the truth about McCain and how he's only saying he will bring change, but how that promise has been made all too often by the Republicans. Remember Bush's message in 2000 and 2008? Bring change to Washington and reach across the isle. Well, we see what that accomplished, don't we. And McCain's going to be 90% just like Bush (McCain's own words). The other 10% that he's not going to be like Bush, is going to be much, much worse.

We can't afford to lose and I refuse to worry about polls. It's heads-down time people. The next time you think about posting a "sky-is-falling" post, why don't you think about spending that time actually *doing* something.

Later.

1. I haven't been posting too much hand-wringing--but....
...I think people should not be positioned as defective or unproductive, when they
express concerns, frustration or even despair.

DU should be a place where people can speak freely and discuss emotions, without
being disparaged.

We're all dealing with this stressful election in different ways. Let's just
support each other. Sometimes you just need to bitch, and often it's helpful
to hear that others understand and feel the same.

Anyway, a hand wringer can be turned into a canvasser in a minute or two--if someone
takes the time to pat them on the back and give them a little understanding.

2. Don't be so thin skinned
Everything is fair game, that is the nature of politics.

"talking down the economy". That is about the size of it. It is not about honest criticism, but trying to bring down the juice of the Obama supporters who are working their butts off.

Getting too negative, on post convention bounce polls, wears thin after the 30th thread. Or if someone is posting positive news in another, the "but but buts" get the best of us a little tired.

Let me edit to add, Good honest criticism is important to winning. I just want to make that clear, I am not wanting an all good news or no news place. But this is the forum to get our guy elected :)

5. I understand and feel the same way.
It's the same people over and over again who can see nothing good and say nothing good.
My ignore list has grown again in the last few days.

Good luck to you in your work for our next President, Barack Obama.
