History lesson from the 1980 election

The Democrats (being the party in power) had their convention second.

After the GOP convention, Reagan had a 6 point lead.

After the Democratic convention, Carter had a 1 point lead.

The race after the two conventions was:

Carter 39%
Reagan 38%
Anderson 14%

Reagan ended up winning by 9%.... which was bigger than his lead after the GOP convention.

That year's election most closely mirrors this one in recent memory

1. May I also point out 1984?

After the Democratic convention, Mondale ferraro were down by 2 in Gallup and actually UP by 2 in Harris.

Of course we all know how close that one turned out to be.

In essence, We're both saying that post convention polls mean NOTHING.

I believe that this election will be Obama-Biden's by about 6% in the popular vote and by 310+ in the electoral vote.
