For those of you who suggest boycotting or blocking - please, think about what you're doing. You're taking the one cable channel that provides not one but TWO very progressive thinkers their own shows during primetime hours. Suggesting that DUers Block or Boycott MSNBC is basically giving Keith and Rachel a bit "FUCK YOU TOO".

Now, am I happy about this change - well I don't know. I watched the first 2 days of the convention on MSNBC and found it to be annoying as hell. They only showed me the key speakers they felt I should see and there were those that were overlooked like the Brian Schweitzer speech, which was very good. It was almost like you'd get 2-3 speeches total and then it was all chatchatchat. Hell, they were using their same style of programming for the Olympics on the convention. By the last 2 days I was watching the convention on CSpan and got to see all of the speakers. But I did flip back a couple of times when the speaker was boring just to see what was happening on MSNBC.

So yes, I'll probably no longer use any of the cable channels to watch the election. Not sure what CSpan is doing but I'll float between Cspan, PBS and Comedy Central for my election day coverage but then again I'll probably be at the Wyndham hotel in Philadelphia for the election day party, where I seem to end up after working election day. So then again why would I even care who hosts the show on election day if I'm volunteering for the election.

HOWEVER, I will not say "FUCK YOU" to the one network that will provide me with shows that I feel have hosts that are good at what they do and dont' cater to the right. Why would any DUer suggest we block a station that gives us Keith Olbermann or Rachel Maddows (her show starts tonight and I will be watching) is beyond me.

Let's look at the big picture and not do knee-jerk reactions.

2. I can watch Keith Olbermann and Maddow on the internet
I don't need to watch the rest of their shit storm. On the internet, I watch what I want to watch.

9. Not everyone has the internet as an option
Plus, when I watch TV I prefer watching it in my favorite recliner in front of my nice TV set. I can't get that with my computer.

3. I will only watch Countdown and Maddow
I hate David "Karl Rove's dancing partner" Gregory. He's another shallow right wing Beltway tool.

4. Unfortunately they let their egos interfere. The DNC coverage was so about them it sucked. I love KO
but he blew it as an anchor and Chris couldn't keep himself under control. It's ok when it's clearly an Op/Ed piece but they let it become the whole darn show. They were a little better during the RNC. But when it's about them and not what's going on that's wrong.

But David Gregory?

5. You saw the DNC on one of those...
'news' shows? I had to watch it on C-Span because on my tv, every other channel talked over it. You know, Pat Buchanan, Joe Scarborough etc., There is no news on these channels..it is all commentary. I guess it's just a matter of what you find entertaining, because it sure isn't anything more than that.

7. I agree. Let's support Keith and Rachel and watch the debates on CSpan.
I agree that boycotting the whole station is foolish.

Write them that you would have watched Keith and Chris on the debates but won't stay for David Gregory.

11. As analysts, both Keith and Chris can give their opinions, so that's good -
isn't it? Instead of being in the position of actually "riding herd" over the entire show, they can now just say what they think, so that's good. We just won't get to see them as much as when they're in the anchor chair. Eh. I'll watch Keith tonight to see how/if he addresses this.
