Have we thought about the downside of Hillary strongly going after Palin?

The MSM are positively dying for a catfight here. If Hillary were to rip Sarah a new one, it would dominate coverage to the point where Obama/Biden was just a sideshow.

After some thought, I hope her marching orders are to keep things focused on McCain, as seems the case. You've already got the chattering class (MoDud, Mika) fantasizing about a 2012 face-off between HRC and what's-her-name. They're insane; we shouldn't do anything to feed them.

I've seen great Palin attack quotes from the likes of Boxer, Sebelius and Wasserman-Schultz. These women have enormous credibility and their message will resonate throughout the base. Barack and Joe need to address her warped social and cultural views more directly, too. As for the independents lured by the bright, shiny plaything, I don't think Hillary could do much to get them out of their obsession right now anyway.

Dems versus Republicans.

I DO think Hillary needs to kick Carabou Barbie square in her ass for using Hillary in her speeches and insinuating they are alike! I'll be very very surprised if she doesn't do THAT! I know what MY reaction would be if someone did that to me, and I believe Hillary is pi**ed off enough at her doing that to smack her down HARD!

He picked her, so let's make sure they're joined at the hip on each and every position. Take her right wing extremist views and tie them in a nice bow around Johnnie's neck. By attacking them as a ticket we'll avoid the accusation of being mean to her because she's a girl.

Attacking Palin only elevates Palin's status. What Hillary needs to do is continue her message to those she connected with during her campaign, in PA, etc. - and point out WHY McCain is bad news.

perfect person to go after Palin. Obama can't, because that elevates Palin and/or diminishes him. Biden could, as he is her opposite, but he's better off waiting till the VP debates when he can destroy her before 50 million viewers - don't want to let her get a warm up before then.

Palin was picked to supplant Hillary in the hearts of the female electorate - their female candidate when we did not put up a female candidate. But if anyone can point out the differences between Hillary's positions and Palin's, that women are NOT interchangeable, it would be Hillary.

I still think that choosing Hillary would have been a terrible mistake - as is evidenced by all the Republicans saying "They should have chosen Hillary". I still think the DLC is a pernicious influence in the Democratic party.

But I cannot deny that Hillary knows how to go after an opponent. There is no one better positioned to take Palin down a few notches than she.
