Do you all remember when Obama gave a major speech about the Rev Wright situation?
It was an amazing speech, I think he gave it from Philly. Half way through it, I broke down and cried. I thought to myself, "this is how it's done!" His poll numbers went up after that and he breathed new life into his campaign. Even the right-wing pundits were entralled by it.

I'd love to see him give another speech like that, regarding McCain and Pailn's lies. A major speech gets media attention and is a chance to call these rat-fuckers out for good.

The Obama camp reads the blogs, and knows how worried everyone is. Keep putting your two cents in every chance you get. We've got to define McCain/Palin, now!

1. I agree they need to take action and counterattack their blatant lies
I'd like to see some ads, along with speeches, calling them on their shit.

The good news is, I DO believe it will happen.

Keep the vision of an Obama White House! Thoughts matter and so do actions.

2. I believe the Obama camp can turn this around in one minute
Say and do something bold and don't soften it around the edges.

Jump in and let the devil take the hindmost.

3. It was a magnificent and historic speech, but it didn't help him electorally
Of the ten primaries that followed the speech, he lost half of them, including Pennsylvania. The only "big state" he won after the speech was North Carolina.

I don't think Obama fixes this with a speech. I think he fixes it with campaign rallies and increasingly negative ads that remind our short-term-memory electorate that McCain/Palin are REPUBLICANS.

5. You're right.
Now let's see if he does it.

4. Are you sure his poll numbers went up?
I remember thinking that they didn't.

6. The way I remember it...
... the news story was that the Wright videos didn't ruin Obama. It was news alone that he didn't just outright collapse, like so many thought he would.

I remember being on DU the day the first post-Wright polls came out, and reported them breathlessly here. He saved his campaign in a way with that speech. It should remind DUers that Obama isn't going to break, he isn't going to collapse. I don't think there's anything left they could throw at him that was as dangerous as the Wright tapes.
