The bounces canceled each other out
From the latest I could find:

CNN has it 48-48
Rasmussen has it 48-47 (McCain)
Hoteline/Diego has it 44-44

Gallup Daily is 49-45 (McCain)

The consensus seems to be a tied race which is exactly where we entered the convention season. I'm not going to pretend that the Gallup poll can be dismissed out of hand, but, until the other polls also show the same big shift, it is running against the majority. Eve the latest CNN poll of polls has McCain up by only 1%, and that includes Gallup in its weighting. The news cycle is beginning to calm down, there is new stories that need to be covered, and while we are no better off poll-wise from before our convention we are not significantly worse off after their convention, either. We're not down and we're certainly not out.
