I think Obama needs a lesson in fighting back from Jim Webb.
Macaca Allen was the sure fire winner here in '06 until the gaffe. But, the gaffe itself isn't what cost that POS the election. It was Webb's hammering him on the gaffe.

Webb is a fighter. He gets the word out with slinging mud. And, he won.

Obama is a fighter as well, but he's up against far dirtier candidates. Might just behoove him to give Jim a call.

Flame suit on.

1. I won't flame you, because you admit that Obama is a fighter too...
all the other naysayers think he is some kind of push-over. I think he has to make some tough decisions about how to get more negative, but still protect his image as a uniter.

But he will figure this out, as he has done time and time again. I am not doubting him now.

2. You've got it backwards, though.
You don't fight back. You pick a fight and let those nutters come running after you.

And from the looks of Obama's town hall in Michigan today, that's exactly what he's doing. Some of the points he hit:

"Drill, Baby, Drill? Who are these people, Cheerleaders for Exxon?"

"Homeland security, national security... they can't even protect you from a Mexican jalapeno!"

"It's the 'No-Change Express!!'"

"These kinds of people wanna fall back on Social Security when they get in trouble... like, when their buddy gave them a hot stock tip and it turned out to be Enron!"

It was a thing of beauty. Obama knows how to pick a fight. He's gonna fight for this on his terms, not theirs.

3. As they say, Webb was born fightin. They should use him as a surrogate.

5. Webb refused to be considered for V.P. -- sounded like he was running from something

4. Obama chooses to act, not react. Good strategy IMO.
