The demagoguing of Obama's earmarks...

Obama has requested funding to protect food supplies in case of disaster, helping at-risk teens, offering education programs and scholerships, money for domestic violence programs, helping law enforcement with missing children, converting Humvees to hybrids and more.

At this link is a detailed listing of his 2006 and 2007 earmarks. I've only skimmed through this. Much of what I have read says Obama uses earmarks to help people.

2. Great article, just was kinda turned off by the subject line.....
it makes it sound as if Obama was being accused of pork barrel spending, kinda misleading if you know what I mean.

4. Alaska RECEIVES $1.84 in federal spending for every $1 paid in federal taxes
... making them #3 on the list of taxpayer welfare behind New Mexico and Mississippi. Illinois, on the other hand, only receives $0.75 for every $1 paid in federal taxes, making them #45 on the list.

Illinois, in effect, sends 'welfare' (earmark) money to Alaska.
