I rechecked and edited my post, but apparently Denver has a pretty high percentage. Who knew?

College town, though, so I presume the large population of college girls makes it a prime target for past and future sex offenders.

Though, my zip code (which is just outside the city limits and technically part of the county) has a 1537 to 1 ratio. 20 registered sex offenders in the zip code with a population of 30,753.

In fact, in my whole area which includes the entire valley, 3 separate towns with a total population of 3,476, there are 0 registered sex offenders.

In the "big" town 20 miles from here with a population of 9,069 there are 2 registered sex offenders (4534 to 1).

Interestingly enough I found out I am exactly the median age for my city. To the decimal point. Wonder if that has any significance?

Alaska has an overwhelming number of sex offenders per capita (5,954 per million) -- almost 60 percent higher than the next highest state (Montana with 3,745). Compare that to New York, which has 607 or Massachusetts which has 247 per million.

And according to a friend of mine with friends in the Wasilla area - a majority of the citizenry has little better than a tenth-grade education. Did Bristol's baby daddy even graduate high school? Did Bristol? Wow. And that's the example we're being given, 'eh?

John McCain pulled a person unknown to 99.9 percent of the American people in his campaign, putting this political newcomer potentially a heartbeat away from the presidency.

People have a right to know everything about her, her background, and her history before they put her finger on the nuclear button -- and that includes the demographics of the town where she claims being mayor gave her the experience to become the so-called "leader of the free world."

Had McCain picked someone who had been through the political process and who had been studied for years, and especially through the primary process, your question would be valid. But given the fact that Palin is a cipher and she's being hidden by the GOP except for carefully scripted appearances -- which she can't even handle -- every scrap of information about her is fair game.

Sorry, if you don't like it, but that's the way the game works -- and it's the danger of introducing an unknown into the process.

There have to be a lot more Republicans in Wasilla than that.
