The list of books Palin wants to ban is a hoax.
There's a viral email going around listing books that Palin wants to ban from libraries. It is a hoax. please do not spread it around. there's enough real dirt on this character that we don't need to make up shit.

3. What about the Satan Lizards?
Is the "dinosaurs are 4000 year old failed lizards of Satan" quote real? I really want that one to be real.

4. Does anyone know the real story on this?
There is a story... about asking the head librarian if she would ban books... and a firing of said person down the road.

It would be nice to have the real story instead of just sweeping this out the door.

8. my guess is...
there is a seed of truth to the story. then someone like Karl Rove exaggerates it and spreads it around, and then smashes the exaggeration, which kills the seed of truth along with it. standard OP.

21. What you said is correct - she definitely DID ask the librarian if she would ban books.
And she fired the librarian.

some accounts say that no specific books were ever discussed.

Others say that the titles of whatever book or books were considered for banning have long since been forgotten.

5. While I don't condone false rumors, this one is brilliant
it brings up her extreme views and her willingness to ban books, in a manner that was sure to upset most readers.

18. Actually, it makes the truth seem unbelievable... and that's an issue.
By exaggerating what happened to include a list of books, some of which weren't even written when she supposedly asked them to be banned, it completely invalidates the fact that she DID in fact ask a librarian if she would be willing to ban books if Sarah requested it. That true story shows enough, but the lie of the list makes it all seem unbelievable.

6. When McCain is sworn in as POTUS
You'll be able to say "At least we played fair".

Screw that. Circulate anything that sticks.

17. Yup
Dirty tricks, lies, misinformation. All OK as long as you're the one doing it.

The other guy doing it? It's an outrage. But when you do it, it's fine.

11. It takes attention away from the FACT that she DID ask a librarian if she would be WILLING
to ban certain books if Sarah's administration decided it was necessary. A very interesting way to divert people from the real issue. She is obviously willing to act against integrity and get books banned if she is allowed, but circulating the bogus list makes the whole thing look like a fabrication, which it is not.

19. too late! ;)
even talking about getting rid of classics is quite enough to get my blood boiling, thank you. It just adds to her already heinous list of things she would like to control for women, kids and all folks who take thinking seriously.

Plenty of my well-read cronies are already all over this one.

20. I doubt she's read enough books to know what to ban
Well, maybe she read the Harry Potter books, and as a typical fundamentalist twit, would want those banned. Fundamentalists just don't read that much, and are in favor of banning whatever their pastor leaders say should be banned, whether they've read or heard of the books, or not.
