I didn't write this, a friend did and sent it out. It's a great synopsis of the players on the GOP team and why we need to make sure they don't win this election.
We have the opportunity to elect a very bright, caring, and capable man to lead this nation out of the morass the Bush-Cheney team have left us in...and by his side is an equally bright man with excellent foreign policy credentials.
There are two competing groups within the Republican Party who come together every four years to foist upon the American public their choice. The first and scariest group are the Neocons, who have controlled the Pentagon for the last eight years. William Kristol, contributing editor of the Weekly Standard (and now a columnist with the NY Times), is their most vivid spokesman. He is always on the round table at Fox News Sunday Morning...and that is where I heard him say on Aug. 31st that he had been meeting with Palin for a year now, and had been pushing the McCain campaign to pick her for the last three months. Believe me, the last thing we need just a heart beat away from the presidency is a pit-bull whose only foreign policy experience is that Alaska sits next to Russia. (As I write this Cheney is in Georgia securing their oil for American Oil Companies and fomenting war with Russia. What will that look like? World War III with nuclear weapons. I don't believe any of us want this to happen)!
If you don't know about the Neocons, look them up at Project for the New American Century. They have been wanting the US to invade Iraq since at least the early 90's. Their most alarming statement: "To get the American public to go along with a war in Iraq, we will need a Pearl Harbor like event," hence 9-11. Their goal is to have the U.S. embroiled in many simultaneous wars around the globe to "promote democracy" and secure the resources for our country.
Some other names that may be familiar: besides Kristol, Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld, Jeb Bush, Douglas Feith, the Kagan brothers, Paul Wolfowitz, and Richard Perle. A must read book that exposes this group, which was born at the University of Chicago School of Economics under Milton Friedman, is "The Shock Doctrine" by Naomi Klein.
The second competing group within the Republican Party is the Far Christian Right, whose only concern, as far as I can tell, is to foist upon the rest of us their belief that life begins at the moment of conception. How does this move us along the evolutionary ladder toward a more peaceful world?
If half of this country succeeds in picking McCain/Palin for the White House, then they will get what they deserve. But what about the other half, who knows that this will be even more disastrous than Bush and Cheney, because they have left us a far more dangerous world than they inherited and this is a time for cooler heads to prevail.
We must elect Barack Obama and Joe Biden! Corva
