Palin church: Alaska will be a 'refuge' for Armageddon

Republican vice-presidential nominee Sarah Palin has attended a number of different churches over the years, but for most of her adult life, she belonged to the Wasilla Assembly of God, which has attracted attention for its unorthodox beliefs and practices.

In June, Palin addressed graduates of a youth ministry program at that church, telling them, "It was so cool growin' up in this church and gettin' saved here."

CNN's Jessica Yellin looked into the church's beliefs and reports that it practices speaking in tongues and also "teaches that Alaska will be a shelter at the end of the world."

1. By Suggesting Americans Will Flee to Alaska,
the church appears to be saying that unlike the account in Revelation, the battle of Armageddon will involve destruction to the US. Do they envision a nuclear exchange?

2. As an Alaskan I think we all know, if WWIII breaks out....
we are TOAST! We are on the leading edge, and have a huge military presence including just off the top of my head, Ft. Wainwright, Ft. Greely, Elmendorf AFB, Coast Guard in Ketchikan, Coast Guard in Juneau, Adak Island...........

Just a side note, I had to do a project once on Attu island, only place in American soil that has ever been occupied.

3. Why do people always think the place they live will be the refuge?
As Bob Dylan said, You can be in my dream if I can be in your dream.

6. Uh people, what makes any place on earth a refuge?
Armageddon, end times, end of the world, Judement Day have no geographic boundaries. I swear, some of these people want the end to happen just so they don't have to die.

9. Will her beliefs influence her actions if, God forbid, she were to become President
I wouldn't mind if someone who worships a bar of soap becomes President. The only thing I want to know is if they can keep their religious life of worship completely separate from their work in representing all Americans. Sarah Palin seems to me to be the least likely person to be able to separate her religious indoctrination from her political actions. She sounds like a religious activist to me.
