Rendell: If I Was Palin You'd Be Calling For My Impeachment
Good for him!

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/09/08/rendell-if-i-was-palin-yo_n_124879.html

Gov. Ed Rendell decried a double standard in the treatment of Sarah Palin on Monday, saying that if it was he who was at the center of the "troopergate" investigation, the press would be calling for his head.

"She a reformer," said the Pennsylvania Democrat. "And yet she is being investigated on the charge that she used her power as governor to fire someone who was going through a messy divorce with a relative of hers. Could you imagine if I was doing the same thing in Pennsylvania? You would be calling for my impeachment."

The remarks came at the end of a long list of criticisms that Rendell, one of the foremost supporters of Sen. Hillary Clinton in the Democratic primary, launched against the Republican vice presidential nominee. Ignoring the directive of the Obama campaign to focus attentions on McCain, Rendell called out Palin on everything from ethics to earmarks.

" has tried to again obscure the facts about Gov. Palin. 'She is a reformer and against earmarks.' No she isn't, when she was mayor of that town she hired a lobbyist to get earmarks... 'She was against the bridge to nowhere.' No she wasn't. She was for the bridge to nowhere first... She is a budget balancer. But she left the town in greater debt then when she became mayor, so she is not a budget balancer."

"I like her," Rendell concluded. "She is a good person, she has tremendous potential but in no way shape or form is she ready to be president of the United States."

The Rendell call, organized to preempt a McCain appearance in Pennsylvania, was ostensibly on the topic of how the Arizona Republican has engaged in dirty politics when it came to discussing Obama's tax record. And on this issue, Rendell was again in vintage outspoken form.

He was my mayor, and was very good at it.

His biggest personality defect is that he shoots his mouth off too much. It is also his greatest virtue.

2. Wake up, America!
Obama/Biden are the only ones who can get us out of this mess.

Palin's pile-o-crap just keeps getting bigger and bigger. She is not competent.

11. Especially if this is true:
"Ignoring the directive of the Obama campaign to focus attentions on McCain"

I'm all for people being informed about just how corrupt and hypocritical and incompetent Sarah Palin is, but if he's bucking the Obama Team's plan, I'm not please with that aspect.

Liars are good people??

Ack. Rendell is a great attack dog and I'm glad he went at her. But we have got to stop pretending these Republican politicians are good. They're not.

6. It's True
Eliot Spitzer wasn't pushed out as fast as he was over a hooker. Spitzer was pushed out because he became an over-arrogant power-abuser, and New York Republicans (and pissed off Dems) were given the ammunition they needed.

Edited on Tue Sep-09-08 04:24 PM by Divernan
According to a link provided in another DU thread (which I will find and ad to this post on edit).
There she proudly sits with her kid - looks like a young Track - next to her. Now if the Palins would have sat young Track down at the kitchen table and taught him some study skills, instead of how to butcher animals and tamper with school busses, he'd perhaps have been able to get a 2.0 in high school so he could have gone to college and not Afghanistan.

And I don't think bow hunters are supposed to hit their targets in the face, are they? It's just so Cheney! Seriously, how barbaric!
Obama mentions Palin's moose shooting

an arrow

You've got a similar "style" to Palin, use it to criticize her more often.

Keep it up and I might forget everything you did to keep the Clinton vs. Obama feud going. As of right now, you've lost my vote. But you CAN win it back.

16. One thing..and tell me if I'm wrong 'cause Rendell isn't
the first one to make this mistake(according to me).

It was Walt Monegan(Commissioner of Public Safety) who was Fired allegedly because he wouldn't fire the Trooper Wooten, who was palin's ex bil.

21. Well he left out the words "try to"...
Insert those words and you get the context.

"used her power as governor to "TRY TO" fire someone who was going through a messy divorce with a relative of hers"

In the end, she was still using her power to fire people because of a personal vendetta. The message is dead on.

up about who was Fired and Walt Monegan is the one who's ask for an investigation.

32. You know what I am sick of....The Democratic leaders and their
smarmy I am sorry that you are asshole responses.

In light of all the shit that Palin has proven to be involved with..what do we hear

<snip>
I like her," Rendell concluded. "She is a good person, she has tremendous potential but in no way shape or form is she ready to be president of the United States."
<snip>

The truth is she is not a good person, just because she attends church doesn't make her a good person. Just because she decided to have 5 kids doesn't make her a good person.

A persons actions and how they treat others determine if someone is good.

Or stay hiding.
