From Palin's Wiki Bio...
"Palin spent her first college semester at Hawaii Pacific College, transferring in 1983 to North Idaho College and then to the University of Idaho. She attended Matanuska-Susitna College in Alaska for one term, returning to the University of Idaho to complete her Bachelor of Science degree in communications-journalism, graduating in 1987."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sarah_Palin

So, it took her four years to acquire a BS in Communications/Journalism? It took me two... I guess I'm qualified to be VPOTUS!!

Four years? Four? And she bounced around four colleges to do it. Why all the bouncing about? Why so long to get a BS? There must be some stories out there. Did she keep failing classes or something? Why did this tiny little degree take so freaking long and so many schools?

Just so you can compare and contrast to Obama's "experience" in the academic areana...

"A graduate of Columbia University and Harvard Law School, where he served as president of the Harvard Law Review, Obama worked as a community organizer and practiced as a civil rights attorney before serving in the Illinois Senate from 1997 to 2004. He taught constitutional law at the University of Chicago Law School from 1992 to 2004. Following an unsuccessful bid for a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives in 2000, he announced his campaign for the U.S. Senate in January 2003. After a primary victory in March 2004, Obama delivered the keynote address at the Democratic National Convention in July 2004. He was elected to the Senate in November 2004 with 70% of the vote."

I guess a JD and teaching law doesn't hold a candle to a degree in communications... ugh.

1. I have not heard one person in the media talk about this either
How does a B.S. in Journalism and no other extra education since 1987 qualify her to be on this ticket? No poli sci, international relations, public administration, etc. - nothing.

2. Exactomundo!
The nerve of them.

She speaks well because of these classes and her broadcasting experience. That is the one thing she has over GWBush... the only thing. She isn't all that great at speaking, if you critique her strictly on that note. She is too "measured" and there are only a few ways she exerts emphasis... I counted three.

And she lies:)

Edited on Tue Sep-09-08 10:16 AM by Juniperx
The Supreme Court didn't just appoint him to the presidency... I must have been dreaming... I must have been napping four years earlier when the voting was questioned too... I must have dreamed all that about Florida, etc. I must have made that part up about how the US Gov no longer allowed exit polling in the US, but uses it as the God's Confirmation of voting practices in other countries.

Yeah, I'm a total dumbass.

19. Hey Why were the Republicans in charge to steal it!?
Because people stupidly put them in charge in the past and kept doing so even as Conservative policies were proven insane. Face it people are dumb, unwilling to get informed and are easily swayed by distractions all amounting to proof a bunch of dummies are voting enough to keep Rs in charge stealing or not.

21. Hey I agree with you..but
Enough people voted for Bush to make it close enough to steal -- which was dumb. You know how you can tell it was dumb because they regret it as polls show Bush has a favorability rating in the low 20 percent range now. Let us part this conversation as you believe people were wise and cheated I think they were unwise (if not approaching stupid) and cheated.

6. I mentioned this to a parishioner yesterday, a Dem, but still her reaction was interesting.
Edited on Mon Sep-08-08 05:27 PM by mycritters2
I had lunch with several parishioners after worship yesterday--I do most Sundays. We were talking about politics, and one women, who has a BA, 3 sons with an MA, MSW and PhD respectively, and a husband with a PhD, asked if anyone knew about Palin's education. I said she has a bachelor's, that I wasn't sure if it was a BA or a BS. She asked what she had beyond that. I said "Nothing". "Nothing?!! She hasn't gotten any education beyond a four-year degree and she's running against Obama and Biden?! What are the Republicans thinking?!"

Of course, Palin is intended to attract the anti-intellectual crowd. The GOP already knows that most of my progressive, well-educated UCC parishioners will vote Dem.

7. The dumbing down of America includes...
Bashing "liberal academia" as well. I'm surprised this sits so well with educated Republicans... I'm talking the "college snob" types who feel a BS in communications from Colgate surpasses one obtained from Cal State Wherever. And you MBA from Phoenix University stinks next to mine from Stanford... I'm not sure why I'm surprised.

8. Do you think you could find an actual issue to talk about?
I took seven years to get my bachelor's degree. I guess you must think I'm a real dumbfuck.

That's okay, so does my daughter.

9. You don't think the McCain's campaign on "experience" includes an education?
You don't think Obama's JD and college teaching trumps Palin's BS in communications?

This isn't about you. You aren't running for VP. I don't give a flying rat's ass how long it took you to get your degree, you got it and that's what counts.

We're talking about Palin here... someone filled to the brim with bragadoccio... and McCain touting her experience too... again, not about you.

Wonder if anyone will share reasons for all of the transfers??

16. Don't really know for sure but
She WAS short of money for college. minor odd jobs and a beauty contestant(runnerup for miss alaska).

So my guess is that she went where she could get an easy to get scholarship OR contest money.

As for 4 years, I am surprised she STILL got her degree in time and was school hopping.

Doubt she is a brainiac though so I think you are better off looking at school transcripts to tear down the bitch.

18. It may have been money but I think it was low grades.
Notice she went from a university to a community college. She probably got her grades back up and in the meantime was eligible for in-state tuition. After transferring to U of Idaho, her grades slipped again and she went all the way back home to her local community college. She's only gone for a semester so her residency isn't affect, she raises her grades and goes back to Idaho to graduate. It shows a lack of discipline to be all over the place the way she did; you'd expect her to expand her horizons and get a double major with all that jumping.

22. Umm ... why would it take only 2 years? I have a B.A. in communications (journalism)
and it took me four years to earn it. That's averaging 15 hours a semester, plus summer classes.

Palin still sucks, though.
