McCain/Palin stump in Lebanon, Ohio tomorrow. What's going on here?
Edited on Mon Sep-08-08 06:47 PM by VolcanoJen
Riddle me this... over the weekend, weren't McCain advisors hushing up the media by telling them Sarah was headed back to Alaska to spend time with her oldest son, Track, who is due to deploy to Iraq on September 11? You know, like, in four days? And that's why she would be unavailable to the media?

What happened to that whopper? She's been to New Mexico, Colorado, Missouri and now Ohio since the media lapped up the latest McCain excuse for "Where's Waldo."

Edit: For those not familiar with the local politics of Ohio, one of the most crucial upcoming swing states, Lebanon is essentially a wholly-owned subsidiary of former uber-Republican Congressman and US Trade Representative Rob Portman. The person below is the one who won Rob Portman's congressional seat in the OH-2 when he hitched his wagon to the Bush Administration; you might recognize her:

1. And she never leaves his side.
She can't handle anything by herself. That's why I'm glad Biden and Obama can always be in separate places while covering twice the ground.

8. I think they're falling in love
McCain is sizing up the 3rd wife he'll love very much.

2. McCain campaign doesn't seem to have a plan
Either they're deliberately trying to confuse the media by changing their plans and canceling events all the time, or they're making it up as they go along.

3. Is there a welcoming committee planned?
It might just lift my spirits if I could hand a sign out tomorrow. Peace, Kim

12. He'll be at Stivers High School in Dayton
where he spoke a month or so ago.

It's an "invitation only" appearance and I didn't get one. Bummer.

11. She'll be at the Golden Lamb restaurant
which is owned by the Rob Portman (who hoped he'd be the Veep choice) family and they'll welcome her with open arms. Tiny American flags waving, band playing, mom, apple pie, small town wingers screaming and yelling. Shrub campaigned there early in 2004 and they loved him. Even our local Dayton radio/TV stations are already gushing over her.

This is Warren County, Ohio, where she's safe in the cradle of right-wing conservatives; safe as in her momma's arms. No difficult questions here. No confrontation. Just adulation.

Remember the 2004 election when the Warren County votes weren't counted because of a "moisture" problem?

I'd like to see her try a solo appearance in downtown Cincinnati or Dayton.

13. And in Clermont County, they shut down the Board of Elections...
... to all media and observer access, due to a "terror alert" or something like that. :eyes:

16. I remember that
It was in the special election when Paul Hackett was running against Mean Jean. I canvassed in Lebanon for Paul Hackett right before the election, his signs out numbered Jean's 10:1. On election day he was ahead until those tabulators went down due to 'humidity'. Like it's not always humid in Ohio in the summer. Something fishy went on there. :(
