Earmarks - Always Evil? Aren't They Often Used For Homeland Security?
As well as infrastructure expenditures? For example, lets look up New Orleans. I bet those new rebuilt flood control measures, which the GOP is taking credit for, were built with the help of earmarks. Likewise, bridge improvements are probably heavily funded with earmarks.

I think this is another example of the disservice done by a sensationalistic media. They love to talk about the Bridge to Nowhere, but they ignore the federal spending that has made a positive difference.

2. Many of Obama's were dealing with Levees
Remember the spring floods? Not all earmarks are bad.

3. If your community
is on the receiving end of earmarks, they can be positive in the extreme.

Sadly, too many in Congress use this tool for their own pork-barrel bullshit, which is why legislators are always grousing about their fellows tacking on unnecessary spending.

4. It's not that local projects are bad, but they should be individual bills
That way every member of congress gets to vote on where the money is going instead of somebody that sits on that committee getting to attach pork onto a larger bill that the rest of the congress has to vote yes on because of the larger measure being considered.

6. Yes and that is a good start, but...
Disclosure doesn't stop it from happening.
