A Confusing Comment on Fannie & Freddie From Gov. Sarah Palin
September 08, 2008 2:56 PM

Saturday in Colorado Springs, Colo., Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin said, "The fact is that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac have gotten too big and too expensive to the taxpayers. The McCain-Palin administration will make them smaller and smarter and more effective for homeowners who need help."

"Too expensive to the taxpayers?" They're private entities. Though they're private entities ultimately backed up by the taxpayers. But the only way Fannie and Freddie are "too expensive to the taxpayers" is if you're talking about the bailout announced over the weekend. Is that what she meant? So, does "too expensive" mean that Palin opposes the bailout? Or did she misstate how these entities function?

Finally some in the media are doing their job. I am sure there will be more Palin gaffes to come.

1. Has this been on any of the broadcast media? I'd like someone in Obama's camp
to bring it to their attention and make some noise about it.

3. I doubt it. I think they are still in "Palin is a goddess" mode.
Sickening.

2. She knows less than the average voter
maybe much less.

I don't know about mental capacity but her knowledge base is tiny.

8. There's some wild & woolly spinning going on down there
in that "Comments" section...

Regular tornadoes like "She's right - They are costing us maybe trillions of dollars - didn't you read it?" (they seem to be tense challenged)

12. He certainly seems to attract them.
And I wonder about him a little. I just finished reading another thread where he conflated an entire 13 min response from Biden on foreign policy into a single run-on paragraph for effect. Ok, it was long, but it wasn't incoherent. Biden detractors were really eating it up.

My problem with this piece above is he almost seems to be trying to throw her a rope. Like maybe she only mispoke or was misunderstood.
He leaves it open to question.

Most are not even mentioning it.

13. No. The commenters on ABC are usually wackos.
I have posted some there in the past but the wing-nut weirdos tend to dominate.

9. Ooooooh. A BLOG posting. That will reach the masses, ABC....
Unless it's on the nightly news, Joe Public knows nothing of it. Only politics junkies read news blogs.

10. It's a start... baby steps.
The media has been in full "Palin orgasmic" mode for days. This suggests that may be turning.
